Games like this are why he cops ■■■■. Made some dreadful decisions and yet there were some good moments dotted amongst that. Are we going anywhere with a bloke like this as VC?
■■■■ me. Had a bad game, otherwise been his best season. He is elite at stopping opponents best small forward, but lost last night. Disposal wise, he is average… duh
Frustrating game. Does well against Bobby Hill and Charlie Cameron but does bad against Jesse Motlop. Strange.
Game high 10 intercept possessions
Does that offset the 7 turnovers?
I thought McGrath did a fair amount of good stuff last night, but Motlop had a fairly big impact. Not sure if I’m wrong, but I felt as though every good moment Motlop had was the result of our guys making horrible mistakes between the arcs and him being the beneficiary.
It’s the handballs to feet that get me. Every game.
It’s the thought process, I’m going to go for a run so I’ll bounce the ball within the first few steps while still trying to get separation that gets me.
The main feature of the oppositions highlight reel.
Still, he kept Stengle to one goal. That’s his job, stop the small forward. He does it well.
He’s putrid. Can shut a player down but useless with ball in hand. He set the tone early with the turnovers tonight
Did a fantastic job on Stengle but geez his disposal is putrid at times and he is a panic merchant with ball in hand
That dropped mark in the last sums him up. Absolute panic merchant. And the limp ■■■■ expression on his face after his error results in a Cats goal.
Started the turnover rot within the first 90 secs. Vice Captain Reliable strikes again.
He’s proper shiete
Dropped marks, running balls over the boundary line, the worst kick.
You can say he shut Stengle out of the game, but Stengle had 17 touches, 9 score involvements, 3 goal assists… and kicked 1.2 (probably should have kciked 3)
So no, he didn’t even get CLOSE to shutting Stengle out of the game lol.
Imagine if Kako had the kind of game that Stengle had tonight, we’d be creaming our pants.
The five goals he created from skill errors, turnovers and poor decisions etc are ok cause Stengle only kicked 1 goal.
Let’s not mention anything about his 9 score involvements or 17 disposals cause the stats only matter when it is in his favour.
I’m not a big Garry Lyon fan but his comments when McGrath dropped a sitter were spot on.
What did Gary say ?
that as VC he shouldn’t be promoting his self care business so much and should be focusing on the fundamentals of footy… like taking a mark.
PANDO
Unfortunately he is one of our backs who can stop an opponent but can’t use the ball which results in either us not creating a scoring opportunity, or worse, a turnover goal. Happens most games and did tonight, streaming through the middle then his lack of composure, because he doesn’t slow down before kicking, then helicopter kick turnover. Don’t know if he can continue to run and gun with his foot skills
