#1 Andy McGrath loves finals football (Part 1)

Now that is 'Champagne Comedy".

Apart from a couple of quick guys our team is slow.

Not disputing that at all. And the story is an insanely impressive one given his injury and how fast he has made it to AFL level.

Yep, midfield especially are mainly plodders

Time to start talking about a new contract imo.
Get it done now before Connors starts playing his games.

Lol, ā€¦ itā€™s kinda cute you think he hasnā€™t started already, ā€¦

In terms of Rising Star competitors, Powell-Pepper is killing it tonight, Burton not really having an influence but his team are getting absolutely spanked. Itā€™d be out of McGrath and those 2 youā€™d think.

Powell-Pepper is having an absolute blinder of a first season. Would be very much a deserving winner.

McGrath very much the most consistent out of the two of them. Going to a tight one

Not even IMO. I love what McGrath is doing for us, heā€™s basically our most reliable small defender after all of 9 games. But he wont get within cooee of it unless he spends pretty much the entire 2nd half of the season in the midfield and dominates. Theyā€™re not giving the award for the best young player in the league to a guy playing back pocket, even if he has been one of the best back pockets in the comp. It just wont happen. Iā€™d be surprised if he finished top 3.

ā€¦McGrathā€¦ SPPā€¦

If McGrath does move to midfield his numbers will go up and he is already ahead of SPP at present.

Burton is not a 1st year player so despite great season that should be weighted against him.

Seems itā€™s his bday.

Ryan Burton will win with Mcgrath second and SPP third - at this stage

Contested possession and clearances. Thatā€™s pretty impressive for an 18y/o kidā€¦ except that heā€™s a man child.

Is Clayton Oliver still eligible ?

Almost 80% kicking efficiencyā€¦

May be not - some of the umpires I reckon, are colour blind when it comes to red and black. ( My opinion only.)

Nup. Played too many games (13) in 2016.

Dyson Heppell says hello.

Apart from when Mills won it last year playing the same role.

So does last years winner Callum Mills.

A half season of footy to go will tell the story, donā€™t forget this medal is awarded by panelists rather than votes throughout the yearā€¦ typically if you have a strong end to the season it will far outweigh a strong start to the seasonā€¦

Do we think Mills and Heppell both probably played more as HBF than BP? Far more offensive and specific to Mills, he was responsible for a lot of intercept possession and setting up play. For this first half of the season, McGrathā€™s has been primarily a defensive shut down role, and we all no that these type of roles as important as they are donā€™t get kudos or recognition in personal awards.
