#1 Andy McGrath loves finals football (Part 1)

Yeah and that was only because the mark before that one of our players came off our man so McGrath had to man up on two players

think that was mckenna?

It was all 3 of mckenna mcgrath and hurley.

hurley looked more like he was shouting @ conor rather than telling him to man up betts or the mark so mcgrath ccould do the opposite.

Iā€™m gonna have to rewatch. Maybe. That doesnā€™t sound fun.

While Mckenna was in the vicinity, Iā€™m pretty sure McGrath was manning the mark.

nah, it wasnt

Is he McNernans cousin?

Ah fair enough. Weight of numbers says I stand corrected.

Ugly bit of play regardless.

Loved his game regardless of the result. Heā€™s such a pleasure to watch.

Zerrett and Andy through the middle, going to be an amazing partnership, wait and seeā€¦ better than ā€˜Dangerwoodā€™

I actually just checked the highlights. Weirdly, weā€™re both kinda right. McGrath is manning the mark while not looking at Betts, while Mckenna has his back completely turned, doing nothing, while Betts just casually runs around the back of him.

It was uglier on a rewatch.

Mosquito fleet are back!

No, actually the closest player was Irish to be fair, and Irish just did not concentrate on taking the nearest player, who was Eddie. Made them look inept, but they have only played about 20 games between them

Moot point - Betts would have kicked the goal anyway.

The main issue was McGrath having to man up 2 players. He did the right thing by going closer to the man in the goal square even though it wasnā€™t his direct man.

That one on one dual where McGrath almost marked it against Betts thoughā€¦

I suggest you rewatch it.

Anyway, didnā€™t mean to make a ā€˜thingā€™ out of it. It was a messy bit of play from all concerned, but McGrath was impressive in every other thing that he did.

It was great example of a lack of cohesion by 3 players who have not played together before in the backline - Hurley, McKenna & McGrath,

Worsfold is spot on on lack of cohesion until the players start to gel and work out each others playing styles.
