#1 Andy McGrath loves finals football (Part 1)

Yes, but in my experience 99.9% of the time “Bird” means a particular kind of human female.

In the first quarter of his first game of the year, before then tightening up?

On McGrath, I think he’s had a very good JLT and am happy for him to be in. Bags is a bit lucky. McKenna and Dea very unlucky.

Not pretty, but I do seem to recall that Leroy Jetta had 0 touches for his entire career.

You don’t say Sherlock??

We’ve already discussed how incredibly creative it is to give a bloke another blokes well deserved nickname just because he had the same last name. Keep up.

They could have went with

oooh aaah
ANdrew McGRath

Yes, we all understand you don’t like it, and you had something else you wanted to call him, but the fact is all his team mates, and everyone within the club call him pigeon. The only person with a problem about it is you. Maybe you should just suck it up and move on.

And seriously, to be named after Glenn McGrath is a fair compliment. I reckon he’d be pretty happy with it.

Like, dislike, … not really an issue. Just discussing the merits of nicknames. I just think everyone deserves their own original individualised one that marks something unique about them, and this one seems highly unoriginal with no real basis to it.

A number one draft pick deserves much better.

(You don’t really thnk this is anything serious do you?)

I assume you have an issue with Heath Hocking’s nickname then?

Just call him Macca. I had the same nickname growing up, but it’s ok, I don’t mind passing it on. I’ve had a good run with it.

Yeah, well I have no particular barrow to push, … nothing definitive has popped up yet, I merely suggested some based on what we do know of him, … but when I started using Macka myself, . . it did occur that with 5 Mc somethings on our list, they all had other nicks, …not one was a Macka, so it would strictly identify him, & with McGrath being a pseudo “Canadian” it did/does have the “Ocker -izing” of him factor going for it …

I’m starting to lean heavily towards Mac Gee now though, the potential with that is huuuge. Especially once he’s an established MCG specialist, … we’d soon be saying, Mac G at the G, … & stuff …

Might get a “Give McGrath a better nickname” petition organised for the march tomorrow … hmmm…

This is all moot. On Sunday morning his nickname will be ‘took a dump on Cyril’s head’.
