Watching at the ground, he has really good closing speed but also seems able to judge the ā€œmomentā€ without over comitting. Looks right at home.

How good was the ovation when he dragged himself off after being monstered.

12 kicks + 10 handballs + 6 marks + 5 tackles + 2 frees + plenty of 1%ers
Good composure and positioning and competing against more experienced, older and stronger opponents. Great debut

Never seen a kid come out in a 80k season opener and look so solid and composed.

Tough kid. They got into him a bit and he just kept at it. Great to see.

I was worried when we took him at pick 1, what a flog I am, deadset gun, will have a Hodge type career when he is finished, and bullshit aside, that is what we want.

Wish we could unleash him more instead of keeping him down at back pocket

He was fcking awesome

Patience young padawan.

Good startā€¦Heppell like beginning

Was very very good tonight. Not as a first game expectation either. He was composed, looked to attack when he could, and only made a couple of errors. And it was against Hawthorn. Very pleased with his debut.

Couldnā€™t agree more.
That wasnā€™t just a good first game.
He was excellent against the most dangerous small forwards in the game.
Outstanding performance tonight.
