Don’t really listen to albums much anymore, so difficult to add anything recent in.
This is off the top of my head, so will be missing some…
Foo fighters - The Colour and the Shape
Gorrillaz - Demon Days
Gotye - Like Drawing Blood
Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak
Metallica- Metallica
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Powderfinger - Internationalist or Odyssey Number 5 or both
Flight Facilities - Down to Earth
The Killers - Hot Fuss
Moby - Play
The Amps - Pacer
Sounds like the first Breeders album, but without the killer hooks. I enjoyed it more than I remembered, but it still lacked a couple of killer tracks 65%
Alt-J - An Awesome Wave
One of those albums that I never really gave that much time to. Probably if I’d bought it at a different time in my life it would have been one I’d have listened to driving a lot. Anyway, enjoyed it quite a bit, 72%
I’m sure I sound like a boring old dude, but I still listen to albums pretty regularly. Even on Spotify.
Playlists are cool, I listen to them too. There’s a place for both.
I listen to albums all the time…it’s my favourite way of listening to music (unless I just want some background sounds).
I’m up over 2000 albums listened to now and try to listen to at least one “new” album per day. (I have a list up on www.listchallenges.com with the first 2000)
I still get a heap of pleasure when I find something “new” that I really like…sometimes that’s a recent release, sometimes it’s from any decade back to and including the 60s
I find I have plenty of things either on vinyl or digitally where I think “yeah I know that album, and think it’s ___”, but maybe haven’t played it for two decades.
Yesterday I went and listened to Midnight Oil from 78-81, and realised I hadn’t given it all a fresh listen for a really long time. And that I didn’t really care for the first two albums much at all but then “No Time For Games” actually sounded better than ever.
That’s a fantastic list. I jumped in and out of a whole lot of pages, and found that I have hardly listened to any of the album’s, even from bands I know and like. I might have owned and listened to in the entirety 2 or 3 albums, and then on your list there’s 12, of which 6 I wasn’t even aware existed. Obviously these weren’t my “I must own everything they ever released” bands, but still it’s somewhat surprising to me that there are so many I’d just kind of skipped over.
There’s also many many artists in your list that I have known a few songs bit never listened to a whole album and probably won’t ever listen to a whole album. (and there’s also many many albums that I know and love where the artist doesn’t even get a look in on your list.
