#12 Mark Baguley

My favourite player also. Absolutel pro. Hard as a cats head. Gives everything he has, all the time.

Back to his old self again yesterday. Love it.

I prefer him in the back line than forward.

We need to stop putting him forward.

We’re simply robbing Peter to pay Paul, except Paul isn’t even getting paid because Baggers unfortunately isn’t kicking any goals.

Yep.

Stop farking with the 29 year old back pocket player.

He is damn good at his role, stop trying to fix what ain’t broke (our backline) and focus on developing the few forwards that we do have, in that position and address this weakness in the off-season.

Hes been wanting to play up forward for a while. He said he was annoying Basset to get a game up forward too. I think he just wants to add to his skill set.

He might want to work on converting the set shots during the game then, not just during practice.

His conversion rate when kicking for goal confirms he is a true Essendon forward.

With Hibberd coming back, Tippa going well, Dempsey returning to form and the potential Dea drafting, perhaps the club are trying to see if it is possible to fit all into the same team? Maybe we should try and trade a HBF for a forward?

Anyone want Ashby?

Baguley’s injury blow

F**K!

Mark Baguley will spend a significant amount of time on the sideline after undergoing surgery on his knee.

The injury is a flare up of an existing injury, but has reached a stage where it can no longer be ignored.

“Over the last few weeks (Baguley) has had swelling in his knee after games,” said High Performance Manager Justin Crow

“This is from an old injury that he has in the cartilage in his knee and it has gradually been getting worse and worse.

“We decided to send him to a specialist this week and Mark’s had arthroscopic surgery on his knee.

“Unfortunately for Essendon fans, and us, he’s going to be off for a little while after that.”

It is still not known how long the vice-captain will spend on the sideline, with the Club waiting to learn more from surgeons before determining a recovery period.

The Club are hopeful that the courageous backman will return before the end of the season.

“We’ll wait for the surgeons advice after he catches up with Mark after the surgery settles and we’ll get a better idea from there,” said Crow

“It’s entirely possible (that he will return). Mark will be really keen to do that.

“We’ll take the surgeons advice and do the best thing by his long term playing career.”

Baguley has been a crucial part of Essendon’s back six since joining as a rookie in 2012.

Renown for his courage as a defender, Baguley has been trialled as a forward this year where he has been able to put immense pressure on the opposition backman.

The injury is a big blow for the side who are already suffering from a lack of experienced heads.

It is likely that veteran James Kelly will return for the game against Hawthorn, while defender Michael Hartley should be available for the game against GWS.

FFS!!

Irreplaceable…get well Bags.

Awful news as far as the team is concerned but better he has it fixed now before taking him out of the game altogether.

Speedy recovery, Bags.

Not a bad thing. Let’s an ageing essential have a nice rest, and get an old injury sorted now, as well as opening up a spot to blood &/or assess others on the edges of the list.

It’s all about player testing, preservation, & preparation for 17. Don’t forget.

Geebus Ashby for Bags is like buying a ticket to the lottery and winning hepatitis.

Now would be good time to bring Francis in but Woosha said he’s not ready yet.
