#12 Will Setterfield

Two great games in a row. He’s now got a spot in the team and it’s his to lose. The team balance is better when you have that slightly more defensive minded midfield player in the mix.

Would be more than Happy for Setterfield to remain in the side and Shiel make way for Tsatas.

That back to the future comment from Scott is actually concerningly funny. We were ■■■■ 3 years ago when he started, and he himself admits we are still playing the same guys in the middle lol.

Looks good out there and offers some validity to our strong body meme. Happy for him.

Are we ? Parish and Caldwell are out long-term and Setterfield only arrived at Essendon at the same time as BDB.
As for Shiel making way for Tsatas - it might be possible when Tsatas learns to kick the footy. Did you see him in the Borough match ? Massive accumulation of possessions, good disposal by hand, but he couldn’t kick a kid’s footy.

I think Setterfield makes our midfield better right now. Both Durham and Caldwell have strong defensive instincts around the ball and are obviously far more skilled and dynamic. However with no Caldwell I think it makes sense to play Will and also gives you some flexibility with how we use Durham. The Pies have some bigger mids in Long, Crisp and DeGoey (if he goes in their).

If we wanted to play Tsatas at the expense of Setterfield, Durham really needs to play a more defensive role at the stoppage. If we bring Tsatas in for say Jones then Merrett and Durham need to spend more time away from CBs. If we bring Tsatas in for Shiel we lose a lot of dynamism and would need to use Merrett as the second receiver. Midfield balance is as usual one of our biggest problems to solve. It’s unfortunate that all of Setterfield, Shiel and Tsatas offer no value in other positions.

Goes straight to sidebottom

His job is to minimise his influence at all costs

Stick to him like glue

Hmmmmm…

That’s not really his go, he needs to be at the coal face, blocking, tackling, releasing our ball hunters

Sidebottom in the guts now he is a great blocker, great job on Oliver

I believe we need to move Merrett to give the younger players more of a run. I think Merrett is able to play at a high level in other positions and it will help the midfield balance. It can be a slow gradual transition though the year.

That means he only had 4 touches in the second half, what happened?

Average player was average.

What is the coach thinking picking this guy

His turn over kick straight to a Pies player which resulted in a goal is the sealer for me. from that point on the momentum swung Collingwoods way and they didn’t look back.

Drop and delist

Low footy iq

Man this thread really swings around in circles like no other. He’s played more good games than bad, certaintly wouldn’t be delisting him lol

That was more Shiels fault. Our player was open but Shiel refused to kick it there because he probably doesn’t trust himself. Instead he sold Setterfield an absolute dummy because he was under pressure. Setters still missed the kick but the ball should never have been in his hands at that point in time.

His kicking is poor

He gets killed on the spread

But he is an older player on the fringe, so he is undroppable

He is good depth but that’s it, he should be one of those guys that only plays if there is a truck load of injuries or a specific player to tag.
He got a free run today not having to tag someone and failed miserably
