#12 Will Setterfield

As in where we were sitting 2 weeks ago, with Geelong and WBD in the next fortnight? It seems expectations were a little overhyped if we were thinking we had anything “locked” especially with how close everything was around us.

That said, there’s still a good chance that we’re deep in the battle for the bottom half of the 8. If I run the ladder predictor with our any upsets except Essendon beating Sydney at Docklands this week, then at the end of Round 22, with games against GWS and Collingwood to come we’d be in 6th, percentage behind 5th placed WBD. If we lost to Sydney we’d be in 9th. It’s kind of a meaningless exercise, because there will be upsets, but what it shows is that we’re still in amongst it, if we can turn it around. Which is not much different to where we were a fortnight ago.

Yep we can still make it destiny is in our hands

I’m hoping Brad is pushing the team to make finals from here he can park the “development year” talk till the end of the season

That is so funny coming from you…let’s be honest, as soon as we are a point down in any game, you “throw the toys out of the cot”

For anyone to imply that we were a lock for 5th or 6th spot (at any time this year) is just absurd…coming from you…well, the farking world has turned inside out!

No i dont.

The last 2 weeks i have every right to be angry with the garbage they’ve showm

Yeah, you do…you (over) react every week, time after time.

You never stop to analyse what’s happened, you just fire off your instinctive reaction without thought.

As @frosty said above

Be honest…at the start of the year, how many games did you think we would win…after last year’s effort, I had us down for 5.

So I had no expectation of us getting anywhere near the finals…to have won 9 is a decent improvement and there’s still a chance of a few more.

But we’re nowhere near good enough to do any damage in the finals.

I acutally i had us pushing for finals pre season. the club was in termoil last season and not a true reflection of the team so I wasnt surprised to see us pushing for finals in 2023

I said i could see us going 4-0 and was laughed at. well we went 4-1 so my prediction was almost correct.

I have done Squiggle nearly every week for the last 6 or 7 and has had us anywhere between 5th and 11th, it is fairly weighted on week to week play.

I just did my own and have us 5th playing Sydney in a home final for us this week will be a good practice for that.

Will Setterfield agrees

I can no longer see us beating sydney or Gws based off of the last fortnight.

Well no ■■■■
He was picked up super cheap and fills a need without spending major draft capital
No overly surprising he isn’t making you go
“Wow how good is he”

You bleat about how bad the list is and how weak minded and soft everyone is, yet you want to make finals and not hit the draft
Zero sense

We also brought in guys like Clarke and Mutch, and tried to nab Brodie and Dunkley. It’s not like we’ve just not tried at all.

Does Brodie have a defensive bone in his body though? Fremantle obviously don’t particularly rate him, he currently can’t get a game in a team that is what, 15th on the ladder?

I hate brining it up but we wouldnt have this issue in the midfield if we got Dunkley what he’s doing at Brissy would have been totaly worth 2 firsts

Setterfield aiming to be fit for the end of season trip.

I think the bigger issue is that with it looking increasingly like Draper and Ridley will miss the rest of the season, and the way we lost to Bulldogs & Geelong, that there may be little point to making finals. If we scrape in and get beaten, even a close loss, I for one would question if we achieved much for the season. Especially if 2 less wins might move us from 8th into the good draft pick range.

Yea we would
One player ain’t fixing our issues

No but that would have solved the midfield issue.

We could have then have focused on getting a full back and forwards

Snelling out setterfied in improves us big time IMO.

Granted he is a very good player, but he isn’t fixing our midfield issues alone
