Need this guy back on the field.
Sure, when Sydney comes to town, I can yell out innuendo about “Big Cox” but it’s not the same as he’s a coach & Sydney.
<Nik Cox thread rules requires that every 100 posts there is:
What type of player is he really? Initially he was seen as a utility that could run and use his height to advantage.
But besides the first half of season 1 what has he done?
What strengths/assets does he have?
How will he improve?
What is his position?
And that is keeping aside the concussion issues.
Surely it’s utility or bust?
On form (after 2021) he’s struggled as a wing & isn’t no full time KPD. But in that unheralded utility with some flank role he could be best 22 (just):
Bench guy who helps:
Triggered…
Did he miss it by as much as he missed picking up a man in that Collingwood game?..
Brayden farking Ham…
Hopes hes spent the last year smashing atleast 2 lamb Souvs & 4hrs per day in the gym. Seriously Gaining.
Anyone actually seen him recently, hows he looking?
Nice try. Video is clearly AI because Stringers hands off a ball inside 50.
He wouldn’t have been tolerating this with his concussion symptoms.
What has done? Like so many of his teammates had his physical durability completely shattered by our previous S&C team. Then the concussion related year off.
For the love of God we’re Essendon, we have been killing the dreams of up and coming footballers for decades now.
In a time when we’ve had some remarkably poor players, Brayden Ham is is right up there
We deserve a four-peat, Collingwood to be rorted by the umps indefinitely, Demetriou to become Big Bob’s new cell mate and for Eddie McGuire to stand in dogshit every day for the rest of his life
My memory is hazy, but I recall him being pivotal in the Martin playing loose back scheme. He switched with Martin in general play to free him up but helped in defence. Found himself as a target forward at times too.
There’s a player in there but it’s seemingly as a utility versatile type.
We got Brayden ham due to out lack of 2 way runners in the midfield.
Our S&C couldn’t put size on him, but playing local footy in Geelong he has added size.
He could have made it, but only as a foot soldier, he wasn’t a elite kick, which is probably what you need on the wing if you are not a taller winger and able to intercept mark in defence and take conteststed marks in midfield and forwardline.
Some things never change
… and again
Essendon couldn’t get him bigger and stronger but bush leagues can. Checks out.
Even as a foot soldier, he wouldn’t have made it. Too crap at too many things. Easy to say now, though. No doubt Dodoro was optimistic.
I feel like people may be loading up their expectations of what Cox should be doing/looking like while he recovers from his concussion symptoms, in order to be able to criticise him when he isn’t able to live up to that expectation.
People who know in this thread note how it’s a battle to do anything when battling the recurring symptoms.
Guaranteed in March there will be gnashing of teeth about him not having put on size.
I don’t care too much about size, I just hope his head is fixed. otherwise its career over.
During the last few training sessions of the year Cox was running laps. Whilst not a behemoth, he definitely put on some bulk.
And yet a year before winning a premiership Melbourne tried to lure him away.
Add it to the list of players we should have let go.
