#13 - Nik Cox - thru 2026 (Part 2)

Would hate to see him in the ruck, would get smashed physically. He should be playing the role they have Jones playing and Jones should be playing the same role Shiel is currently playing.

List management is a numbers game.
Might have to crack 3 dozen eggs before you get an omelette.

This is so true

New ruck rules make it more suited to… blah

But if it gives coach and alternative to playing 2 rucks / going more agile, I’m all for it.

Cox the thankless utility role might be the only way he can earn a spot in the AFL.

Compare the number of key forwards drafted against those that play 100 games.
5 years either side of Curnow and McKay, Carlton picked up (games in brackets)
Jayden Foster (0)
Luke Mitchell (1)
Levi Casboult (198)
Lachie Henderson* (102 - most as a defender)
Daniel Gorringe* (4)
Patrick Kerr (4)
Mitch McGovern* (97 - most as a defender)
Callum Moore* (2)
Oscar McDonald* (5)

Hope Nik gets a decent run this year.

He’ll get my unashamed support as I yell out, ā€œI love big Coxā€ at the G.

It begs the question are there any small cox in the AFL?

He looks the same to me as he has for the last few years.

KPF is the one position I don’t ā€œgetā€ for him. Don’t see him as making that happen. But hope I’m wrong.

Nik is significantly smaller than Mason, so I think technically he’s the small Cox?

Isn’t he way too fragile for the ruck?

Is that muscle definition I see on the arm???

He is finally lifting full cups of coffee!!!

Wonders will never cease!!!

Not with the new ruck rules that preference mobility over physicality.

The dangers of ruckwork are grossly overstated. Guys like Goldy, the Madden brothers, Salmon, Dempsey, Round and Nicholls played well over 300 games and barely missed. And rucking has never been safer. Did anyone injure themselves in a ruck contest this year? Can’t remember any examples. Shaun Grigg managed to relieve in the ruck and he isn’t even big by midfield standards.
