I’m not sure if the interest in him from Brisbane was true or not.
I thought there was some doubt about it.
It cam up one day, then disappeared a few days later, so I’m assuming the Merrett stuff sheltered it all or there was something else at play there.
This why I’m not too worried about us getting defenders as we draft. The ones we have aren’t reliable. You can’t really plan for a back 6 if they can only get on the park for ten games.
I think our injury issues are deeper and long lasting than we think.
We had poor fitness issues through the 2010s. We had players miss a whole season due to bans. We also had the 2020 covid impacted season which meant we were already well behind other teams fitness wise and needed to rely on individuals to not only keep their fitness up, but to improve on it and close the gap with the rest of the league.
There’s good reason why 2020 similar finals teams to 2019. They’d all had accumulated years of good training habits to be able to handle the isolation of being in the covid hub.
The affect the current S&C team have will be more noticeable in the younger players, than the ones that have been injury riddled and mishandled since 2020.
Keep turning over roughly 8 or so players each season and roll the dice with the draft. Righto. But I do get it .. we’re pretty ■■■■■ so why not? Though, just give up on the whole squad shall we? Even better let him shitpost our club like he consistently does .. ffs
This next season if we get Rids, Parish, Langford and Reid all on the ground with our recent recruits, we’re a decent team. If not then let’s all lay down in front of the house of @Bomber93 who wants to just keep laying into the club, its list moves, I mean literally everything infinitum.
Question is, how much of his and the others mentioned injury situations are due to mismanagement by the previous S&C team or just their bodies being incapable of handling the pressure of AFL loads for longer periods?
We need to give Innes’ team time to work through the issues.
And how much would it be to the players application to their rehabilitation program? Not saying that’s the case here, but might be (and with other players)
Can’t blame the club for not wanting to gut it’s list entirely. Those managing the club don’t have the luxury of being free from scrutiny as the fans have.
If you want to take a look at clubs that dug too deep, take a look at North Melbourne and their last 10 years.
did Rids go overseas this off season to see some soft tissue guru? if so, Blitz strongly endorses. we love this stuff almost as much as a good sacking.
even if it’s to Nigeria to see a faith healer, we still support the player leaving no stone unturned.
I don’t mind if they push him and back off and get to a point where his resiliency builds over the pre-season - even if it means he isn’t ready to play until R4 or 5 or something. I feel like he is a guy that has just be cruelled by reducing resiliency from injuries and each time they extend the rehab and never give him that preseason style build up. Langford falls into a similar boat.
