Personally, I wouldnāt worry about Weddle and trade Merrett for a late first on its own.
As for Ridley, Iām not sure how far it actually went with Brisbane. But a single late first is good value imo.

Thatās what will happen, everyone saying 3 first rounders was crap but the reality is weāll have a player that doesnāt want to be here and then lose him for absolutely nothing in 2 years.

tbh i couldnāt give a rats arse if we get nothing at the end of 2027 for him by then we would have been to the draft enough where we donāt need anymore picks we would want players.

Yeah, this whole idea that we donāt need more draft picks is just bizarre.
Could have easily used another couple this year and as you sai we can always trade them to move up the order or use them as a trade for a player down the track

What kind of logic is this? We canāt afford to not hit the draft over the next few years, we have some talented youngsters and need to keep adding to it.

Hit the draft and also target free agents in the right age group
Thatās why Iām personally ruling a line through Ridley, Reid, Langers and possibly Parish. Lots of scar tissue. Iām relying on Inness to get the broader squad in top condition. Weāre at least one and possibly two more excellent draft hauls away from having finals ambitions so Inness should be given time and space to condition the squad and implement his program. The chronically injured shouldnāt distract imo.

Your going harder than me Dmapes and your usually the positive one, Iām not ruling Reid out just yet but I agree with everything else you said.
Donāt think the club will care imo. right now they are making an example of out Merret that you cant leave mid contract makes the rest of the playing group think twice about breaking their contract.
You want to leave you get that right when your occ or hit FA status

Fair point. The offer was crap and maybe weād have been better off accepting it given that heās a depreciating asset. Tough call.
