He also won the most courageous player award that night.

We only need 5 players. Oh wait…

The year before that he also finished 6th and won most improved. Off the back of two top 10 b&f seasons and also two years of additional awards at the club, I say he earned his 3 years.

In 2021 he also won the β€œMcCracken Medal”- an initiative from Rutten and presented in recognition of the club’s founding family, the McCracken Medal, voted on by all members of the playing group following each match. The criteria align strongly to the player that has lived the club’s core values and DNA.

…yes, and? He stinks now.

He was given a 3 year deal essentially off one good year of footy. It’s typical us.

The third year was a bit generous, even at the time.

I was more worried at the time about his body holding up than his form dropping off.

He really is looking like an old man out there at times, which suggests it’s a little more than form.

The arm that used to get in for spoil is now half a length back.
The vertical leap looks to have declined.

The gladiatorial combative game he has played has perhaps taken a toll.

In any case, he is only playing because Ridley, Reid, Baldwin are injured, and Hayes is not quite ready.

Yep, he’s a handy β€˜third depth’ back-up to call upon.

He’s good as break glass in case of emergency depth.
Just so happens at Essendon the glue holding that glass in place hardly has time to set before there are shards all over the floor again.

Laverde, like Heppell, Kelly and Menzie are in the team because of injuries.

Once we have a full list to pick from will be interesting to see what Best 22 looks like.

will be interesting if Scott makes some hard calls.
he did start the year without LAV, and kelly has been in and out last year and this year.

Laverde is in due to injury, Heppell and Kelly aren’t

When Reid and Ridley are back who goes out?

I’d be playing Baldwin ahead of the three defenders as well.

Laverde & Cox

Baldwin IMO as far as preferred tall trio is behind all of McKay, Reid & Ridley

LAV IS IN THE AIR

Does that ever happen?

Are those values: β€œHonour in defeat”?

How many goals were kicked on him last week?

Don’t know precisely.

Owens definitely beat him on the lead in the 2nd and converted (or rather read the incoming kick better).
There was another play where a St.Kilda player marked the ball inside 50 whereby him and Hepp were close by.

To my eyes, it looks like he has lost half a yard as he is beaten on the lead alot, moreso than i remember previously.

FTR, if he is your depth player that only plays when you have 3 tall soldiers down in your backline, then we are in good shape.

Would be worth stuff all in a trade
