So l diverted the thread back on course, before there were 50 more.
good for you, you should be proud.
He’s such a cool cat
I can’t see it. Help please.
Thanks for sharing- really enjoyed it. He’s a well measured, yet confident, well spoken cool cat.
I am bullish on Archie. His ability to stand up in tackles in his first year is extremely rare. Once he is match fit and puts on a bit more size, he is going to be an absolute brute and unstoppable.
Biggest improvement I want to see is his 4 quarter game, so often he goes missing for large periods, it’s super noticeable because when he is involved something good generally happens, he’s impactful, just gets caught in between the play a bit, I think we’ll see inroads in this area.
Thought was interesting how he reflected on the midfield side of things, put in solely due to his size and our midget midfield, performed well, hopes to utlisie his strengths against smaller opponents if given the chance.
Long hair not coming back.
Potential to join leadership group in the future.
Sounds like he has his head switched on.
No longer party boy of Portsea.
I think he is of most use as a mobile CHF / HFF type.
but would still like to see stints in midfield/wing to keep him involved in the game.
If he keeps working on his forward craft, could end up like another Langford. Showed ability with his 3 goal games.
Nominated HOBBS as a breakout player for next year, but Perkins could be one to go to a new level in 2024. had a good preseason so far.
Ideally get to 20 PPG + 1Goal average in the next year or two.
Called Goldstien old. Fark you Archie!
When you’re 21, anyone over 30 is ancient.
Anyone got the Herald Sun article where Perkins pledges his allegiance to Essendon?
AFL news: Archie Perkins on Essendon contract talks, midfield ambitions | Herald Sun
Out of contract Essendon young gun Archie Perkins says he wants to be a Bomber “long term” as he pushes to play a greater role through the midfield this season.
Perkins is one of 22 Bombers who are out of contract this year, a list which also includes the likes of Jake Stringer and Andy McGrath.
Captain Zach Merrett — who is signed on until 2027 — said the impact on players who were out of contract was “real” and the wider club had to make sure those players “feel valued and supported to get the most out of themselves”.
However, Perkins said he was largely unfazed by his own situation as the No. 9 draft pick prepares for what will be his fourth season at the top level.

“That will sort itself out as the year plays on,” Perkins said of his contract.
“I’m super happy here at Essendon and really excited and have a lot of belief in the group we’ve got.
“(I’m) really keen to stay on here long term.”
Perkins was one of only five Bombers to feature in all 23 games last season but spent much of that across half-forward.
The 21-year-old did not attend a single centre bounce in the first six weeks of the season but went on to win some more midfield rotations in the back end of the year.
“Being around the ball more has always been a goal of mine,” Perkins said.
“But the ability to play both positions — forward and mid — I think a lot of players are going to be in that same boat this year for us. So, the ability to impact in both areas of the ground is a strength of mine.
“With the pre-season I’ve had and the confidence I’ve got in my game, I think no matter where I play on the ground I’ll be able to have a big impact.”

Perkins was selected one pick ahead of teammate Zach Reid in the 2021 national draft.
Since then, Perkins has played 62 AFL games but Reid has managed just eight due to a wretched run with injury.
Reid has caught the eye over pre-season though, with the 202cm key defenderlooking at home alongside recruit Ben McKay during recent match simulation.
“He’s a super talented player,” Perkins said of Reid.
“I’m very excited to see what he can do this year. I think he’s going to be a great – almost new – addition to the team.”
I doubt Perkins would be rushing to sign a contract at the moment. He hasn’t come close to fulfilling his potential and would probably like to have a breakout year to up the value of his next contract. It’s a wait-and-see situation for both sides. I hope he has a massive year as he certainly has the potential to be a quality player for many years.
there is no value in anyone signing a contract before the season starts unless they think they are going to stink it up, or at the end of their career.
There has been a number of key signings pre season.
Including Weddle today and he’s not going to stink it up and he’s not at the end of his career.
I have a feeling we wont really see the complete player Perkins will be untill he is 25 ish years old.
He didnt play a heap of midfield growing up so its going to take him a little longer then most to adapt and learn the trade properly.
If it ever does click for him though and he manages to consistently find the ball 25 times a game he will be the best player we have had in 20 years.
