i dont think it will. but i hope it does. this time around, he has copped mini media bullets saying he needs to show more. maybe it’s an external rocket he needs?
Or delisted
Finally gets a circuit breaker… hopefully gets a solid month or so to build up his confidence and just play good footy.
Hope you find some form Perko.
will probably be brought back in as a late change knowing brad
That’s what I was thinking.
Will come in for Reid who has “Hamstring awareness” and ends up sitting out the rest of the season.
Best thing for Perkins is to play 2s for a month.
However are they even playing this week? How can you play 3 games then have a bye?
If the fixture is what it has been in previous years, in that month we’ll play 1 match and have 3 byes
Brad will bring him back without playing a VFL game.
He clearly hasn’t been much chop his year, but I really do feel sorry for the guy
He was running around like a crab last year clearly injured barely did a preseason because of said injury then gets rushed straight back in for round one and just never got into the tempo. He’s been on a hiding to nothing.
And the year before that when he was awful as well? OP then?
Or is this, after 100 odd games just what he is?
This is generally how I feel. There’s ability there. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a confident version of him. Fingers crossed for all our sakes he can rediscover it.
^^ THIS ^^
He was completely set up for failure in 2026.
Whatever you think about prior seasons, he should not have been parachuted into the seniors with basically no preseason and no practice match form.
It was the perfect opportunity to ease him in and gradually build confidence in the 2s.
Amongst a sea of confounding selection decisions (Nguyen dropped etc), this one is almost the most perplexing. It is entirely unsurprising that it has not worked.
It’s Joever
I think things have really changed.
We have a raft of players in line now.
Are there any examples of players who significantly improved their output, in a sustained way, after ~100 games?
And not ruckmen/huge fellas… David Hille for example doesn’t count.
Kade Simpson
Although part of that might have been the team getting better around him.
Jarryd Lyons.
Played 92 underwhelming games for Adelaide and Gold Coast before being signed by Brisbane in 2018/19 in the first delisted free agency period after the draft. He played another 8 games for Brisbane (reaching his 100 games) before stating to hit his stride in Round 11 being BOG against the Hawks in his 104th game. He got BOG twice more in 2019 with 13 Chazzer votes.
He got 23 Brownlow votes in 2021 (finished equal 9th), and played well in 2022.
Injury and loss of form limited his AFL appearances in his last 2 seasons (2023 and 2024).
So yes - it can be done. But it is rare.
Go back to early 2024 in his previous thread and a lot of people (me included lol) thought he was going to be one of our best players in a few years.
What the fark has happened since then man. We just cannot develop players at this club.
Another example of Brad Scott completely botching someone’s development. This will go one of two ways. Perkins will either come straight back in next week, or he will finish his career in the VFL - Once Scott makes his mind up on someone, it doesn’t seem to get changed. If Perkins was genuinely injured last year then we may never see the player he could have become.
