Latest rumours had us giving him a 1 year deal. Sadly news of his demise are premature.
Archie is definitely one of the players Spike will be taking back to footy school. We have all seen it in glimpses that there is something there.
I’m happy with a 1 year deal to see if a new coaching style and philosophy can get more out of him. It’s not like we are getting a first round pick in return from a trade.

I’d prefer the club to be honest and admit in its current predicament it cannot accommodate players like Archie Perkins (or Ben McKay). It is abundantly clear - we can’t carry players with these issues.

The first half of 2024 he was tracking stats wise as the perfect replacement for Stringer. But then Brad bradded him and he lost all form and confidence.
It’s a low risk strategy to keep him for one year when we have plenty of other rotten wooden to chop and we are likely to get extra spots on our list.
Edit first half of 2025 after Stringer left

Like someone said in the McKay thread, players like Perkins, Cox, Jones etc are taking us no where and we have to move on from them.

He kicked a grand total of 5 goals in 2024? That was years ago?
Stringer was a 42 goal a year behemoth.
Perkins has neither flown nor borderline flown. He doesn’t even like travel.

Apologies 2025. He kicked 17 for the season including 12 in his first 11 games and was averaging over 16 possessions a game.
Delist, he isn’t interested in footy.

I look at someone like Ben Ainsworth and think Perkins could be similar. Half forward in poor sides look terrible. He has talent hopefully Spike can regain Perkins mojo.

Similar players I agree but Ainsworth is an elite runner which is a problem for Perkins .

How many years do we have to wait for a breakout season?
We had some breakout games… 5 brownlow votes in all. But this was his 6th season. He averages 0.5 goals a game
He has had every chance imaginable and still hasn’t come anywhere near to making any spot on the ground his own
just trade/delist him and be done with it
