#16 “OMG it’s Archie” Perkins (Part 2)

Just looks completely disinterested and has totally switched off.

Did he ever switch on?

Archie and EFC seem to be in a toxic relationship. Neither one is good for the other. As it stands, both parties are miserable. If couple’s counseling doesn’t work then it’s best to part ways sooner rather than later. Everyone would be far better off.

It’s been downhill since the Cowboy Hat on draft night.

Fedora, it was a fedora @need4speed.

lol. I stand corrected.

if only it was a cowboy hat, maybe his career would have taken a better turn.

He should have never cut his hair. It was all down hill since then.

Unfortunately we do not have the time to wait for it to grow back

What X-factor trait does he have ?

Slow as treacle this year, cannot defend and does not chase. Could mark once, but nearly all the 54 marks he took this year were on his chest and he dropped most marks overhead. Could kick once as well, but that also evaporated, and what was that shot for goal vs Sainters ?

I want to say it was two seasons ago he was playing completely devoid of any confidence, and it was obvious and maybe even mentioned by coach or playing group or something like that (can’t exactly recall). So you go ok, maybe it’s just his confidence, and he’ll figure that out and be back.

Yeah nothing has really changed. Maybe he’s just not that good. That is more likely.

Still takes my breath away he got to 100.

I think his performance on Wednesday night was the final nail in the coffin for me. Hardly knew he was out there. We’d lost two players already during the game, just didn’t stand up, didn’t make an impact whatsoever. Kako has shown more in 20odd games than he has in 100. Even Blakiston, at 26 and playing out of position is a better prospect moving forward.

Hit the nail on the head. He is bone lazy.

In hindsight…

Fans seem to think that all players love the game so much they are inherently inspired to excel in every game they play. Those players exist. Easy. Zach Merret is one, Duz another.

But let’s suppose some “fall out of love with the game” to a greater or lesser extent. The problem is, they are on good coin, probably far greater than they would otherwise make. So they might just be tempted to play at say, 70%, or whatever it takes, to stay on good money, stay on a list .

Is this the case with Perko? For that matter, is that what’s wrong with the club? Do we tolerate that attitude. A ruthless coach would not.

Archie is capable of playing a 3 vote game. How is it he only ever did it once?

Trade.

He lost mobility, zip and desire for the football. Is he carrying a groin injury? It looks like that - or he’s just checked out.

If it was his second year, you may claim “second year blues.” Five years, 100 games, should be at his peak. Though I reckon if you look at his Draft year and compare it to the one before and one after, it was a weak year, so we are probably overrating him.

Not saying our Drafting Gurus would have picked well, but we could have got some top players in other years for the picks we had.

The fates are against us.

The Eagles have proven that even when you get the GOAT draft pick you can go backwards.

According to stats, 2023 was Archies best season, 2025 was his worst, which is understandable because the team is bottom 4.

Every team needs a lot of better than average journeymen. I am OK with keeping him, let him go if someone gives us a good deal.
