#17 Todd Goldstein - don’t forget, he’s here forever

Vigo is a long way off being ready for AFL

So is Goldy.

IS he not from the rookie draft and developing?

Draper is 25
Bryan is 22
Vigo is 19

Not sure adding another 18 yr old ruck is the way to go.

Big if, but IF Goldy is break glass for AFL and can help Vigo develop is the VFL then I don’t think another year is the end of the world.

What I don’t understand is why we couldn’t pick up literally any ruckman for free who’s significantly younger than Goldy? His form since round 9 or so was below AFL standard. Any reject from another club would be worth the dice roll instead. It’s like we agreed that he would mentor for 2 years and are giving him a list spot instead of a coaching role.

The only way this is worthwhile is if he assists in Vigo’s development by playing 2s every week. But then again, why couldn’t he just be a coach? Most of the players’ time receiving feedback is on the training track anyway.

A spot on the list that couldn’t be used for any other position?

Is there any real issues with Goldy being 3rd back up ruck (break glass in case of emergency)? If he is a ruck coach but paid under the salary cap, saving us soft cap money and playing VFL every 3rd week, I can see why he was signed for another year.

But if he gets games ahead of Bryan again then we have big issues.

This exact thing was said last year, when we signed him.

It was but Draper was also coming off OP and Goldy did ok for the first 8 weeks before falling off a cliff.

Draper finished the season fit and Bryan proved he can compete at AFL level. So conditions are different going into 2025.

Given Nick played the last 4 games and Goldy went around in the VFL, unlikely.
Be good to see Nick getting around with a better tank next year.

I’m a sceptic because this club and this coaching group has made me a sceptic

Expecting Draper gets injured in pre season. Goldy gets picked round 1 and Bryan plays VFL.

■■■■■■■ lol and people actually defend Brad, this bloke will play minimum 10 - 15 games next season while Bryan plays VFL.

Next up, Sam Weidemans 1 year contract extension

Don’t be surprised if Brad gets Jack Zieball and and Cunnington out of retirement

I just can’t trust Scott in this regard.

Well Bryan and Draper are our 1st choice ruckmen. Vigo developing but a fair way off it at the moment. So its either Goldy for 12 months as 3rd/4th choice or a skinny 200cm kid that takes up a list spot next year and won’t play for years.

We have a few part time options as well. Don’t see the big deal. Use this years picks on bigger needs, small forwards etc

I’d suggest keeping Goldy indicates Brad has quite a bit of faith in Draper and Bryan.
