We’ve just had 3 or 4 blokes injured in the AFL last night so don’t blame the club for being conservative with this. I’d assume El Hawli may only play a half too
If Hayes comes in, that’s a very tall backline with him listed at 199

To be fair, I’ve essentially called a 3 pointer as it was passing the rim. Not exactly the most incredible prediction ever made.
A really deserved debut if he gets picked, the Weid selection over him is still one of the biggest head scratches of all time but hopefully gets his turn now
I’m not sure there is a job for him against Sydney. Their selected side this week has only 2 tall forwards - McLean and Francis. If McKay (god save us) and Reid take them, there is no appropriate match up for Hayes.
Is Amarty likely to be back? And even if he is, I could see him replacing Francis.
They also have Ladhams going through the forward line.
Surely not, impact was very low.
Should he really be managed for a Friday afternoon game before an expected Saturday night game?
Play VFL, do good warm down/recovery session tonight, have the weekend off then roll up Monday for a solid week of prep.
Eh who knows, Michael Christian at the helm
I first thought this but i also believe they dont wanna take any chances at a injury from him during todays game
Haha, you beat me to it.
Ridley out for 1 month plus. Give this guy a proper run at it.
On that basis, will he, Reid and McKay all be held back from training for the week???
What basis? Training and a game are quite different imo…

Risk mitigation, not risk elimination.
It still makes no sense to me. I’d rather a bloke thats been in form to continue that run leading up to his debut.
He wasn’t tired. He’s been super durable.
But I’m still just ■■■■■■■ stoked he’s finally getting a go.
Yeah tbh it feels like arguing over something pretty minor, they have just played it cautious which is fine.
I’d imagine if he did play today and did a collarbone in a collision the decision to play him would have been questioned pretty hard (particularly when Lav was named)
Super happy for this - glad he didn’t play so he gets a guaranteed run in the AFL - next cabs off the rank are Day-Wicks / Johnson / Clarke / Gerryn by year end - will be a very different looking first team by the ens of the season

Players are at risk in both, and youngsters learn in both. Why remove one and not the other?
The only way I can see a Hayes - McKay - Reid backline working against the Swans is if Reid can play on the mediums/resting 2nd ruck adequately. Might have that Fletcher-esque ability to play on both types.
