The ones we already have are barely AFL standard
He looks like insurance for when we let Draper go back to Adelaideā¦
Taps cleanly to advantage.
Kicks off either foot.
Is mobile, loves a bounce.
Accurate in front of goals.
Is not a beanstalk.
How did he slip so far? Glad that Rosa is from the west, probably had Gerreyn tracked from an early age.
End of next year Bryan and Draper out of contract. Goldy will leave. So the move does make sense as insurance. Looks like
He can seriously play too
So far three very different players drafted. Better balance view
We could have 5 first round picks to play with next year
Just FYI - heās long been projected as a key forward at AFL level rather than a ruck. 199cm so a little undersized for ruck.
Moves brilliantly, elite kick off either foot, can clunk a big mark.
When he rucks he reminds me of Briggs
Thanks for that⦠was thinking at 199cm⦠are they thinking forward
all I needed to hear
He played a decent amount of forward at the Champs, he rested forward in the Colts. He was called up to play senior WAFL and played key forward, and we were all super keen to see how he would go but unfortunately both his WAFL games were heavily rain effected.
Addresses a couple of different needs, and from three different states. Spreading the balance, lots to like about this draft hand. Well played Matt Rosa.
Some info.

Kayle Gerreyn is another. Looks a million bucks, 200cm kid with skills, smooth moves and build like a brick shithouse. But tested poorly in preseason, slow sprint and agility times. If he tests well at the combine he could be a big riser.
Love Gerreyn. Heās the most skilled and coordinated of the tall contingent, can kick well on either foot. Has some of that Paddy Ryder type of smoothness to his game. Has shown an ability to take a big contested grab.
There are question marks over him. I would have liked to see him play more key forward than ruck as heās āonlyā 199cm so unlikely to be a primary ruck at AFL level, but he ended up playing 70% ruck with rests in the forward line at Colts level so we didnāt get as much of a look at him as youād like. Also, Colts is a super weak comp and he was able to just monster opponents. Iād have loved to see him play more senior WAFL, but he only got two WAFL games in and both were heavily rain effected. He also didnāt play for the AFL academy, and his performances for WA at the Champs were okay but not amazing.
Shanahan looks a little slow, although i havenāt seen his numbers. I am on the Gerreyn bus, got the athleticism in spades.
SENās 2024 AFL full Phantom Draft
By Nathan Sepe
The 2024 AFL National Draft is right around the corner, stacked with more talent than we have seen in years.

Pick 60. (Hawthorn) ā Kayle Gerreyn
West Perth/Western Australia ā RUCK/FWD, 199cmGerreyn has had moments of dominance this year as a tall marking forward with the flexibility to play in the ruck with his mobility and strong bodywork to outmanoeuvre opponents and win his one-on-ones.
Shanahan looks a little slow, although i havenāt seen his numbers. I am on the Gerreyn bus, got the athleticism in spades.
There is a clear reason why heās not high on a lot of draft boards.
Heās played almost entirely as a ruck, and probably isnāt tall enough to play as a primary ruck at AFL level.
He projects as a key forward, but has barely played there. We have seasons of games from the other top key forward prospects, but almost nothing on Gerreyn. Forwards need craft, and we donāt know a lot about Gerreyns forward craft. So he represents a massive risk.
He played key forward in two senior WAFL games and both were washed out. He played a larger % of game time in the forward line at the Champs and he was just okay.
Could be an amazing pick, could be a complete bust.
Cal had him in his top 40:

Kayle Gerreyn
Key forward/ruck
West Perth/Western Australia
199cm
10/5/06āGerreyn plays with presence as a tall forward who can also make an impact in the ruck. He kicked five goals from four games during Western Australiaās under-18 carnival run, before kicking 15 goals from his final eight games with West Perth this season. Through that period he also tallied up some dominant games in the ruck and around the ground, including a 23-disposal effort in the first final at colts level plus two appearances in the League side. Finished sixth in the agility test at the Combine (8.082 seconds) in an impressive effort.ā
Legend thanks for this
