#19 - Kayle Gerreyn

A forward who can ruck, I think he will be a very good 2nd option with his combo of size, agility, skill and aggro.

Rubbish. Langford absolutely plays as a key forward. Nothing like a flanker. You could call Edwards a flanker if you like, but defensively he offers about as much our key forwards, so structurally he shouldn’t take the place of one for mine.

And now you are twisting my number of 14 key forwards and rucks, saying that includes “tall flankers” without actually including our flankers in the number. That is just weird, and does not hold up. We have a lot more than 14 if you’re doing that.

We should play a combination somewhere between 3 and 5 kpf and rucks. Definitely not up to 7. So 14 players to fill up to 5 spots in the team… yeh, nah.

But if you’re going to start twisting the argument in to flankers, then you need to start including the likes of Durham, Perkins, Martin, etc.

Langford has only played as a key forward as a stop gap because we haven’t had alternatives. He was never recruited or even developed as a key forward. I think calling him a flanker is correct.

Gerreyn seems a great age to eventually take over the 2MP role of forward/ruck. A role none of May, McMahon or Caddy can do, and aside from Draper this year, none of our other rucks have shown any ability to do.

I think there is a clear place for him long term if he’s good enough to take it.

I reckon May could play the 2nd ruck role like Hawkins did for the Cats in time. He played first ruck as a schoolboy.

Agree - Out Wright in May
He’s probably a season or two away though from doing this unless needed due to injury.

Ah, he’s 198, so taller than I originally thought.

So yeah, maybe.

Add Sam Durham. A couple might be held over to the next week if it’s too risky bringing back 6. A win over the Suns would be unlikely on current availabilities, so it might be worth bringing back 2 tranches.

Lol he wasn’t recruited or developed as a flanker either. In fact it’s one of the few positions he hasn’t played. But whatever. Call him what you like.

Depending on the minutes your #1 ruckman logs, having a properly undersized backup probably doesn’t matter too much.

Any chance he gets a run before the years out?

I reckon he plays next week and maybe unwin as well

Just play them both against the saints. It’s the most winnable game left that we need to throw

If Caddy season is done which seems likely, I would play Gerryn against Carlton’s woeful backline. (Even though he has been playing back in VFL)

Name him against FC and half their side won’t turn up.

Surely they cant leave him without a game this season?

We need a defender and he can do it

If they have any sense of theatre they get every player on the list a game this year
