#19 - Kayle Gerreyn

Who said that I have finished stirring up the Tsatas thread? I’m a multi-tasker.

I can honestly say that I have seen less of 5 minutes of Gerreyn play.

After decades of Depressendon, I actually more or less go along with your stance.

Everyone is sh¡thouse until proven otherwise.

My ‘being right’ success rate is unfortunately very high.

Based on the goal he kicked last week he is a long accurate shot at goal. He also made great position just inside the 50 to get the mark which led to the goal.

Having watched alot of Kayle to start last VFL season, he showed plenty as a forward. 12 goals from his first 6 games as an 18 year old tall.

Was shifted back shortly after due to all our injuries with obvious mixed results.

Excited to see what he do forward again.

Still more than Edwards manages now

Edwards does much better than that in the VFL.

He played the first 7 games of last year as a forward, before being shifted around everywhere.
During those 7 games, he had more than “five or six possessions” 5 times and kicked 12 goals.
As an 18 year old 200cm tall in a pretty poor team.

You have a strange definition of the word “rarely”

I guess the memory is playing tricks but every time I saw him he didn’t do much - some good things here and there but he never dominated. I am not negative about him but the Blitz meme that he is some potential superstar forward and/or ruck who had his career ruined by being shifted to defence does grate.

Named FF in VFL this week. Will make senior team before seasons end. Bookmark it!

Yes… well hard to justify cutting a player without trying them at least once in the seniors (al la Voss) especially when the injury and “won’t make it” list is extensive.

Where did I say he shouldn’t be tried in the seniors?

How many 18 year old talls dominate their first 6-7 VFL games?

For reference he did more than Caddy in his VFL stint.

What he did show was some aggression and great agility for a big bloke. Something our forward line isn’t exactly blessed with.

Hopefully he goes forward and gets back to showing what he was initially.

Sorry - accidentally hit respond to your quote rather than a general
reply.

Agreed. I didn’t see much evidence of forward craft but his aggression and ball use was impressive.

Has a beautiful hoof from outside 50 on him.

Not getting a heap of it as he seems to have been playing mostly CHF whilst we continue to go deeper, but he’s taken his chances.

Who would have thought it.

Playing two kids who’ve spent their entire junior careers in the forward line, may just result in goals…… genius

I really, really hope that him returning forward and scoring goals gets him a senior gig soon. Blakiston should be on thin ice. Bryan ruck with Gerreyn pinch-hitting and playing as a 2nd tall next to Caddy should be the go until May is fit at the very least.

If he is going to make it as a key forward, he needs to be better aerially. His contested marking craft isn’t great and this is the thing that threatens to hold him back.

If he could do what Edwardes does in the air he’d be a promising prospect.

Whilst I certainly hope he improves, this is eerily similar to what people were saying about Voss when we were pushing for him to debut too.
