1973 Team Photo

Here's the 1973 team photo.

John Emin's name was mentioned in the '72 post but he is definitely in this photo.

There's at least 3-4 players that will test your collective memories.

Good luck.

PS I'll post a colour version with the players names in a few days.

There's a lot of hair in that pic.

Back row, 6th in from the left looks like he means business.

Fantastic effort again Bomber C.

But that Lake/Hickmott double is going to give you a headache.

Amazing you got Middleton and Ellen.

I can't remember them at all.

Thanks 72

I was a mad essendon fan and from 1967 used to be a regular at training so in those days you had a lot more access to the players.

Russ ellen had red hair ,middleton long hair and thin, wright had curly hair, tyler had fair complexion.

So although i consider i was extremely fortunate to follow us and see us win 3 premierships live 84/85 /93.the 70s i  still rate a great period of time .

Thank you  again  go bombers .

I also loved the 70s.

Fields was my favourite but guys like Andrews, Roberts, Cassin, Marsh etc made a decade of drought most enjoyable.

Yep alan noonan was my all time favourite bomber loved fields and schultz ..

Everyone loved ronnie andrews .

Kenny roberts  ian marsh steve robins all played or coached aberfeldie in the edfl .

Wally bujah vic papp rod mcfarlane michael moore ,michael doherty bring back some memories.

I loved watching seconds .

Eddie lake had real blond hair  at one stage and had a  brother bruce .

My bad after you posted picture of hickmott yesterday .

You are correct that it is Peter Hickmott in the photo, not Eddie Lake.

Graham Middleton was a good get. He only played the one game and was lucky to achieve that. He was a tall, skinny wingman without the ball handling skills required to make it at the top level.

Russell Ellen wasn't so hard though as he spent about five years on the senior list and played over thirty games. He was an undersized ruckman but had a decent spring to compensate. Not a huge amount of talent though and the arrival of Simon Madden effectively finished him.

Not sure of my memory, thinking it was Daniels or Ellen, who got a free kick in front of the members, right on the boundary line.

Kicking the ball back into play they sprayed it off the side a very ugly torp.

The ball never entered the field of play, the umps scratched there heads and made them kick it again.

Im sure whoever it was blames the tricky  windy hill wind to this day.
