#2 Big Sammy Draper (from May 2024)

I think you think his choice was performative?

So you haven’t got it

I think one of us hasn’t ā€˜gotten it’.

I’m not convinced that’s me though.

Lol

Ran around like a headless chook, but he was way better than Bryan who should get dropped.

Took one farking mark all day.

I have no issue with drapers technique if that is what he is doing at training and that is what the coaches are training him to do and if it continues to get results.

It any of that isn’t accurate, or changes, then there’s a breakdown of something somewhere along the way.

They’ve taken the same amount of marks for the year.

I’m starting to think someone in here doesn’t understand the term ā€œattention seekingā€

This is such a bad take, last year we missed these easy goals, Stringer and Langford both missed goals in important games from less than 20m out. If Draper has developed a reliable set shot, good on him that’s a win.

who gives a ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  ā– ā– ā– ā–  how he kicks it if it goes through the big sticks

Keep going Sammy D… target 45 goals this year and 30%+ in ruck

rather see that than his attempts at a drop punt

The brother of our gun backman did a similar thing when he gad the yips. Then went back to a more ā€˜normal’ routine and became more reliable.
Maybe Sam will do the same.
Farkarlton.

I want to make it clear that I don’t like the side on approach, either. Not for any rational reason, it just feels wrong, even if I can concede that there’s probably a lot less that can go wrong with that method.

However, if that’s the approach he’s decided to take then it makes sense that he would do it every time. It’s what body memory and habit and process is about.

And I would point out that Lloyd used to do the grass thing at Marvel with the roof closed, and nobody called that attention-seeking.

edit: sigh in before, aRe yOu cOmPaRiNg dRaPeR tO lLoYd?!?!!1

45 goals? fkn hell

Hey, he’s on target. You never know

How stupid are the old footy player commentators and fans that complain about players snapping. I swear, some of these idiots would prefer the player miss with a traditional drop punt, than kick a goal around the body.

Also i noticed any time a player misses with this latter technique everybody has a meltdown, despite the fact we regularly see misses from the same spot from a drop punt anyway.

It’s like they take it as a personal insult to the tradition of the game. I loved his snaps, it’s the best he’s kicked for goal just about ever.

I can’t believe @wimmera1 just compared Draper to Lloyd

Merrett is on track for a 69-goal season.

Trade Draper and we’ll have the lowest average age and lower average body mass than an U12’s side. JFC he kicks goals, rucks well, shows agro, isn’t f*cking scared of contact and you want to trade him?

I’d rather 5-6 years of quality football.
