#20 Jackson Merrett

If you are moving players in and out you will make some mistakes, some will respond better to a different game plan or coach, some are just duds, but by moving players on you give yourself a better chance of getting a gem. Stop sticking with players you know arn’t up to it incase they ‘come good’ or do well elsewhere. Move them on.

He’s talking about Sydney’s Kennedy

How do you run 13.6 KMs in a match and still end up with the least possessions of either team?

watch him get another game.

Jackson would be due for a return to the seniors soon, wouldn’t he? It’s been ages since I’ve seen him play.

He is done. Not all his fault either.

Lack of development is PART of the problem but the majority sits with him.

Shouldn’t play seniors again.

He is a good bloke so I feel sorry for him.

I wouldnt feel too sorry. Paid good money to train, probably study part time, hang out with his brother and mates.

His brief would have been to apply pressure to the opposition’s back-line - which is why he was chosen over a different set-up, given our list depth.
Hasn’t this been explained about 37 times now?

They also got rid of Gary Ablett and so missed out on the chance to draft junior as a father / son prospect. Arguably the greatest trade debacle of all time. How many more flag would they have won with them? Plenty.

Laid 1 tackle and had 8 possessions, but we’ll persist because he’s a good bloke and he might come good

He must have missed his briefing since he only had one tackle. Cannot believe he was given 2 games

With tactics and game plan it might be that there’s something I don’t understand re Woosha.

But I understand this - Jackson Merrett should NEVER have been given another opportunity.

Long is the only other option I can see for that role. Was a bit of a coin-flip, I reckon.

Long had only had a half of footy in about a month, not really a viable option.

having 3 of your first 4 in line for a particular specialist position is always going to hurt.
This should mean Jacko is done though. Gotta be someone better on a state league list.

don’t understand where he hides on a footy field but barely sighted him vs melbourne

Yes, exactly.

Ok. So the one tackle he had for the game is sufficient pressure then?

Regardless on how he’s going, my point is, the Hawk’s are ruthless in their list management, and moving on players that they see past it, or just don’t want to persist with.

We are the opposite of this, cause they’re good blokes…
