He’ll be a useful enough backup ruckman for a year or two while Draper becomes good enough. Clarke may only play a handful games if any.

He could be legitimately be best 22 if we want a 2nd ruck who plays forward, He’d be potentially in competition with McKernan. Theoretically.

This has probably been discussed at length in the ruck thread (which I have not read) - but - why do we need him exactly? We have Smack as backup (yes not great in the hitouts), and Draper (who everyone agrees is awesome in the hit outs, and is young but getting better).
Sooooo - we need another ruck why?

My take is it’s a planning for worst case scenario.
If TBell went down for the season.
Draper might not be able to handle a full season. Fill in for a couple of games maybe, but not ready for a full season.
Ditto Smack who has a bad injury, has never played a full season and is only average in the ruck.
