2016 Membership

About to reach 50,000 members faster than anytime in our history club told me today. Amazing..49,722 today.

Website showing 49378… Did it go down in the last few hours?

Toughen up and get to the games to watch Parish, Raz, Laverde and co I’d say.

Hasn't been updated for quite a while. I'd say they will make a big announcement when we hit 55k. That will be the last milestone for te year.

Need to get Jimmy onboard for a membership push. That’ll fix it.

I was feeling down at the beginning of the year like so many of us after January 12, so I just bought myself and the family 3 game memberships for this season after not really fully utilising the full home memberships last year and told the club that in the surveys they took when rejoining.

The club emailed me after I attended the Melbourne game and said they would convert my 3 game flexi to a full home games flexi if I attended the 2nd home game against Geelong. I did and they did. Now have been to the 3 home games plus ANZAC day.

If I can convince my wife and teenage offspring to attend another couple of home games on their flexi 3 gamers, I will upgrade their memberships/buy more 3 game flexies.

My wife who is a bit of a restrained Kiwi is now officially a Walla fan after the North game, and my daughter is a bit keen on Darcy Parish, so it is looking promising. Unfortunately VCE is holding my son back a bit.

After the North game I think this could be the most up and down, but interesting season I’ve seen yet.

I think it is going to cement on quite a few fans, especially if we can follow 2016 up with good season next year with the 12 returning.

I was in tears giving a standing ovation to our players as they went off on Saturday.

I now genuinely feel we are the best club in the land, with a real bond between players and fans, and we can thank the 2012 farkup and the shiitstorm created by the communication specialists helped the AFL brew, and faeces farking hurricane created by the CASWADASADAFAAKAAs, for making us stronger to the point of being indefarkingstructable.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and I think we are developing a strength that hasn’t been seen before, hoping that Jobe can bring himself to lead it next year and kill it. Genuinely excited.

You are spot on ,that game made us all feel…indefarkingstructable.

53k is decent. if we could pull 60 that would be amazing but I think we’ll fall short of that.

A number of games we actually share takings for home & away games with opposition clubs. Additionally a lot of our value to sponsors comes from game attendance and viewer numbers both H&A. Lowering our average crowds could hurt the club financially through gate takings and later in sponsor negotiations. In an extreme case it could affect the quality of sponsors we are able to attract.

Strong fan and sponsor support have been about the only thing to see us through this saga so far, if those were to fade the ramifications could be dire for the long term health of the club.

Scrap that, just go to the club website.

Heaps of things are 2 for 1.

Happy days.

So does anyone else have access to the 2 for 1 membership offer?

Something popped up in my Facebook feed and now I can’t find it.

Just used up my 3 game Flexi and want to buy another couple

Is it just me or does our promotions this year look at a bit cheap and lack production quality.

I get the feeling that the club is in austerity mode and the saga is now costing us real money.

And whilst membership numbers are up I would be interested to see if membership revenue is up or down.

Does mean we’re selling fewer game day/reserved seat memberships but more digital/three game $50 memberships?

Correct.

In what way does not attending an away game hurt the club? I think the ramifications to the club would be minor to insignificant. The ramifications for the AFL and the opposition side would be more significant. Keep our membership up, and home game crowds up, and television audiences up, and we’ll be fine.

So are ppl boycotting away games? That's what I'm set on doing for 2016. Trying to not give the afl a cent if possible.

No. Why would we want the players playing before o supporters at the G? Doesn’t help Essrndon as we gate share as well. Poor crowds also reflects poorly on the club from a branding perspective at a time when the resilience and support of its fans in every respect is being applauded and a factor in why we are yet to lose sponsors.

Bottom line. If it hurts Essendon directly or indirectly why do it? .

The club will suffer massively financially, at precisely the time it needs maximum funds, if a lot of people around here get their way.
I don’t think much beyond personal anger and foot stomping gets much thought in many of these things.

I agree we should turn up at every opportunity, but it’s very understandable that there is some "foot stomping " going on. The club hadn’t exactly been out there in any aggressive fashion itself. Many poster comment “Oh if it was Collingwood in the ■■■■■■■, Eddy wouldn’t sit idly bye like our “leaders” have”, a sentiment I personally agree with, so it’s no surprise that there’s a bit of foot stomping about.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand the foot stomping, I just don’t agree with it when it hurts the club at a time when it needs every resource it can muster.

A STKFC mate has been getting stuck into me about compensation for Carlisle big time. So l convinced him that members/supporters were just going to boycott the STKFC away game so that STKFC lost significantly more than they got. His attitude changed immediately, first to you “can’t do that, its not fair” then to clear fear that they could be seriously financially hurt. Whether we should do it or not l’m not sure, but l sure enjoyed watching someone else panic and be worried about their side for a change.

we only gate share on a few blockbuster games such as Anzac Day and the Dreamtime game and any corresponding games in that season e.g. if we play Richmond twice, both games have gates takings split. I think the intention was to help manage income from gate takings on a year to year basis, given the ‘home’ block buster games are alternated between each team from year to year.
