Today’s crowd for us was the largest Freo has ever played infront of at Etihad

We got out drawn by only 5k by top 4 finishing Richmond but queue the wank fest over Richmonds fan base being so far bigger than everyone else.
Apparently only the Tigers draw crowds.
It all comes down to MCG. The fact we have come even close is incredible.

Actually reckon the “G” had SFA to do with it.
We played 7 @ the G, 8 at Etihad, & 6 interstate.
All our big drawing games where at the G, and all at Etihad were against lesser drawing teams, and out of towners, … and I don’t remember any there being a sellout.
I reckon the difference is our draw, and playing lower, less crowd drawing teams more often in comparison to Richmond.
And only 5k less, … so WE WIN!! (IMHO)

Our fan base has been fapped over throughout the saga too by the press. I hate it.
Difference is that Richmond get an extra marquee fixture.
ANZAC Day eve sells out just like ANZAC Day. Season opener vs FC gets them an extra 20k compared to if it were a later round.
I know we had Hawthorn but that’s not a sure thing annually.
