Pick 5. Jack Bowes (GCS) - C/F
Like the look of Bowes, and think he will get a lot of game time at the Suns this season, with him already playing across the halfback.
Pick 23. Jordan Galluci (Adelaide) - C/F
Played against Geelong and liked the look of him. Adds some pace to the Crows lineup, but I'm not expecting him to rack up a lot of games this season. Long term project.
Pick 72. Matthew Lobbe (Port Adelaide) - R
I had my eyes on Bird, but after he went a few picks earlier, re-adjusted. Lobbe is a ruckman that I have been after in some form or another. I needed the variety, since I only had Blicavs as a ruck option. He has done well in pre-season, but still to be determined whether he works well with Ryder and can get passed his proposed trade.
Pick 97. Eric Hipwood (Lions) - B/F
Another player that has played a bit this pre-season. I think he will get some gametime in his 2nd season, and since the Lions will have heaps of opportunities for their younger oplayers.
Pick 147. Brendon Ah Chee (Port) - C/F
Pick 161. Ben McKay (North) - B/F
Both McKay boys were taken high in the 2015 AFL Draft, but hardly featured due to injury etc. Fingers crossed Ben will get a lot of playing time as North rebuilds.
Pick 163. Mason Cox (Pies) - R/F
Will get a lot of game time with Pies tall options being low at the start of this season. Will provide ruck flexibility.
Pick 170. Declan Mountford (North) - C
Similar to Ben McKay
Pick 175. Jackson Merrett (EFC) - C/F
I'm thinking he will get a run across half back after watching him in the JLT match vs Pies. Looms as a big season as he tries to break in with all the players returning.
Pick 178. Corey Wagner (North) - C/F
Similar to Ben McKay.
Pretty happy with how I drafted. I was conscious after being players short of the start of the 2016 season, so went for variety & flexibility.
