I've been incredibly busy the last fortnight so haven't had a chance for weekly reviews or to participate in FA week.
I liked CB's pick of Lyons. I've been tracking him all year and he looks promising.
My team has been struggling badly of late.
The Matera and Viney injures have really tested my chances of putting together a high enough score to stay in the top 4. Beams came back from injury which was great, but he'll take time to get back into form. Zach Tuohy has tapered off from his earlier season form as well.
On the plus side...
Luke Ryan looks a solid player who should make keepers. I was hoping for his kind of form from Lee Spurr, but Lyon played him as more of a lockdown back. Very happy to have gotten him with my second round pick given Biggs and Papparone haven't been as reliable as first thought.
Sean Darcy is my next starting ruckman I've been looking for and the transition between Goldstein to him should work very well. He scores heavily from whiteouts, but as soon as Sandilands retires, he'll be a 95+ scorer. I was annoyed when I missed out on Nankervis as he was my next Goldstein replacement, but I think Darcy could be just as good if not better.
Atley finally got a game and whilst the score doesn't look too good, he played 50% game time so it is not a bad result for him. Still not good enough a performance to say my first pick was warranted. I think in time I'll regret not taking Setterfield. Hopefully Atley does well enough to warrant a keeper spot ahead of Sam Gibson.
Harley Bennell should be playing WAFL so I should finally see some fruit from the trade investment I made on him a few years back. It's been a very long and frustrating wait.
Riley Knight is back to the positive signs he showed earlier this year. I rate him highly hence why I was considering him with my first round pick and glad he made it to the second round pick. He's a definite keeper.
ANB is slowly getting back to the form he showed earlier this year. I was getting very worried that he wouldn't get back into the Melbourne 22 and when he did, he struggled to score well. Last week was a positive step forward.
Callan Ward has stepped up big time since round 10. Perfect timing and hopefully he can continue with 100+ scores leading into the finals.
Jack Lonie scored well last night. He's actually coming along fine. He's been delisted once and was awfully close to being delisted for a month straight, but I like the way he's going. If he can hover around 70 and stay in St Kilda's weekly 22, he'll be a very good late draft pick
I have no hope of beating Windy this week. He's on target for a monster 1600+ score and I'll be lucky to hit 1450. Given where I thought I'd be at the start of the season, I would be happy with 1450 with no Bennell, Viney, Papparone and Matera, but my goals are a little higher right now and Windy is really setting a high bar to aspire to. I think the best i can get to is around 1550 which is around 100 short of Windy.
