I’ll be mainly looking for player trades to improve my keepers. Will be willing to upgrade picks as well.
Its not a fire sale on these guys, but I’m willing to trade…
Aaron Mullet (B) 70 - He’s a keeper at the moment and I see his average jumping up to mid to high 70s depending on where he ends up playing (he’s out of contract). Good scoring defenders are valuable in this comp and this guy is on the improve.
Jack Riewoldt (F) 77 - he’s been consistent his whole career. Will average high 70s. Oddly enough, if Richmond have a bad season next year, I see him scoring more goals and pushing his average to low 80s to mid 80s.
Todd Goldstein ® 87 - I don’t think he’s cooked. He has a few years left in him and I think he’ll still average mid 80s at worst during that period. That’s still good enough to be a top 10 scoring ruckman in the comp. If he was in next year’s draft, he’d go late first round or early second round.
Jarrod Harbrow (CB) 83 - had his best year of his career. Is a free agent and will probably end up at a team that’ll use him more effectively. At worst, he’s a mid 70s scorer, but I see him pushing low 80s again next season. If you’re looking to improve your fifth or sixth backline spot, this guy would be your target.
In the mix for a keeper spot depending on trades…
Corey Maynard (FB) 78 - I’m tempted to keep him. He’s a DTer at VFL level. His form from round 10 onwards in VFL was at a higher level than Langford, but he just couldn’t get games in Melbourne’s midfield.
Jack Lonie (F) 61 - I’m a big fan of his. His VFL numbers were hard to ignore. I think he’ll be next year’s Alex Neal-Bullen depending on how the Saints trade this off season.
Joe Atley © 45 - He’s is an inside bull (very similar to Kane Cornes). His SANFL numbers were very good and his tackling numbers are crazy. He should be in Port’s best 22 next year.
Francis Watson (B) - I think he’ll be next season’s Nic Newman. He was going very well at WAFL level until he got injured and then just showed glimpses later in the year. There is a spot for him in WCE’s back six or forward six next year if they give him a go.
I don’t expect much interest in these guys, but here goes…
Ryan Lester (FB) 73 - Had a breakout year. Showed the capacity to score 100 a few times this year. Is in Brisbane best 18 every week. Unless he plays heavy midfield minutes, it’s doubtful whether he will improve enough to warrant a keeper spot.
Sam Gibson © 83 - He’s cooked but is still in North’s best 18. Will still score the odd 100 here and there. I’ll be looking to pick him up in next year’s draft if he isn’t traded.
Ben Kennedy (FC) - Goodwin hates him. This guy racks up the possessions and puts on tackling pressure, but he could barely get a spot as an emergency. If he finds himself at another club that’s willing to play him, he’ll be DT gold.
Zach Guthrie (B) 37 - He’s a few years away. Makes Gleeson look like Arnie. There were some positive signs in the finals and it’ll come down to him, Thurlow or Ruggles to take Mackie’s spot in the Geelong backline.
You’ll have to tempt me greatly / pay overs for anyone else on my list.
