The good…

  • a win is very much welcomed.
  • Dayne Beams is finally getting back to his best.
  • I should get… Erm… Someone back… Erm… Who am I kidding?

The bad…

  • Team selections. Matera dropped caught me by surprise. Two weeks in a row I’ve been surprised by team selection.
  • Spewing Garlett didn’t get picked after I found out he had a plane ticket for the Sydney game. He didn’t play VFL so I’m assuming he was travelling emergency?
  • Two more injuries this week (Anderson and Bennell).
  • Rowan Marshall’s score would have been handy. I dropped him to fill my 18. He gets selected…

The ugly…

  • Only 3 players weren’t named on an injury list or in team selection this past week. Of those 3, Francis Watson is playing tomorrow so he’s going to be gone at the next FA. Biggs is a chance to be dropped too. Wallis won’t be dropped just yet.
  • I wish I drafted Jake Carlisle so he could say, ‘This team is farked’.

#1344

I think we all know what the real match of the round is.

#1345

Cripple Matchup

#1346

My first 1400+ round for the season!

#1347

Next week is a huge round and can really shape the eight!!

#1348

One short killed me. Would have been a cracking game with AB if not. Not to worry

#1349

Anyone know where I can get heat maps for these position polls?

#1350

Position Polls out to everyone, please let me know if I missed anyone.

#1351

Took me a long time to feel comfortable. At least the late withdrawal of Waite meant the UF screw up didn’t matter.

#1352

Heat maps are generally useless for deciding positions as they’re incredibly misleading. Most of UF’s hilariously bad mid season position calls can be laid directly at their feet, as UF has said in the past they rely heavily on them vs. actual game watching.

Friday’s game gave a classic example of someone using a heat map as evidence to prove a belief that wasn’t actually true: 7 put up a heat map of Jack Silvagni’s first half whilst Cameron Ling confidently stated that Silvagni was getting a lot of inside mid time, based on the fact he’d been playing inside mid at VFL level and Carlton had told Ling that Jack would be getting more midfield time. In reality he only lined up as an inside mid twice for the entire game, but Carlton was still correct as 2 vs. 0 is still “more midfield time”. The “increased midfield time” Ling thought the heat map was showing was just simply Jack leading up the ground more often, rather than being a deep forward.

#1353

Fair enough.
I really have no clue about pretty much all of these players, then.

#1354

No worries. and thanks for getting back to me. I hadn’t responded to your earlier offer because I thought I had it covered but since you mentioned it a couple of times I thought it worth checking.

FWIW I don’t think of Grigg as a ruck at this stage. Only credited with 6 hitouts for the season, and I don’t think 190cm Midfielders being put up for CR status is the right way to go about it.

#1355

nah. I had a guy score negatively and two more lose points in their second half.

another showing like that this weekend and it will be a one way cripple flogging

#1356

Hall out 10-12 and Zaka 6-8. Ouch.

#1357

@Dunlop

Have you heard anything on Jamie Elliott?
He’s been TBA for a while now.
Not sure if he can be LTI’ed.

  • Per the feedback from Shaun Edwards et al 2 years ago, bye averages can only take into consideration games from the previous season, to make up any difference (rather than all matches within the overall spreadsheet time-span), of which Ceglar missed its entirety. In Ceglar’s case, it wouldn’t have made an iota of difference as it would’ve only raised his bye average to 37.

Slipped through the cracks a bit, as they now update Wednesday and I’m generally not on the laptop to update things. Adding last week’s TBC now makes him indefinite, but that may change when the Pies officially update later today.

Unfortunately it has been progressively more difficult this season to release timely information before FAs, as more clubs than in the past are now officially updating after the Tuesday update window (Melbourne and Geelong have reverted to form and drop Wednesday or Thursday, Collingwood used to be Mondays now they’ve shifted to Wednesday and North are now Wednesday as well). Richmond has also now joined Geelong in the very vague category of rehab windows (previously everyone had dates now, now if they’re not a chance to play they’re just “unavailable”), whilst Hawthorn, St Kilda and Sydney no longer officially release a full injury list and Essendon hasn’t for a few years now. This unfortunately means giving a modicum of trust to the AFL releases for those sides, of which Geelong’s in particular has frequently proven to be wildly inaccurate over the years. The timelines St Kilda do release in their official video updates also haven’t been matching the AFL’s version, casting doubt on the accuracy of the rest.

No problems.
I still think he should be 2 to 3 weeks away.
The last time he did his hamstring they gave him 3 weeks then he redid it in the VFL in 5 minutes.
It’s been 3 weeks since the last one, so given it’s the second time, I think another two weeks is about right.
I either LTI him and effectively lose him for the year or take a chance that he comes back in a few weeks.

Press Release:

The All Blacks have parted ways with their legal counsel, Johnnie Cochran. After years of partnership it had been decided that an over reliance on the Chewbacca defense during tribunal hearings was funny yet ultimately ineffective.

It has cost us dearly with first Nicnat being suspended for a legal tackle and now Fyfe being suspended for little more than being beautiful and talented enough to stop Dusty winning two medals in a row.

Effective immediately we have appointed Dennis Denuto to handle our ongoing affairs. Dennis brings years of experience in civil proceedings as well as a new angle of how we will approach these matters in the future.

We wish Mr Cochran all the best with his future endeavours. There will be no further comment.
