They will surprise a few, but I don’t see the Bombers playing finals in 2020. I see this season as somewhat of a gap year for the club, which should rise back to contention in 2021 under Ben Rutten. Keep a close eye on John Worsfold. His transition out of the senior coaching job will present an intriguing subplot.

Bloke has no idea has Carlton finishing 13th they looked closer to bottom 4 than moving up the ladder from their Marsh Series.

The funny part is for me that essentially nothing too dramatic has changed over the past couple of seasons - we haven’t lost too many players, and we’ve drafted stronger players in each year. Yet for some reason this is the year all the “experts” have us dropping off a cliff?
It’s the amount of injuries we have imo.
Pundits saw what happened with Melbourne and are assuming the same thing will happen at Essendon plus they seem to think the coaching succession plan will also be a factor.

Our Marsh form would suggest we are going OK, and it seems like Rutten is already the main man, with Caracella close by his side.

Pundits may be writing us off but one thing is for sure - whatever happens we will be in the spotlight. Hopefully this successful pre-season leads to a good start with wins on the board. No more 2-5 whatever it was. Let’■■■■■ R6 in the top four or five and finally win on Anzac Day. Set the season up and not play catch up.
