No one can blame Essendon for not being able to get deals done this trade period. And some of the trades that were a “lay down mazaire” are still not happening. The only way the media can keep us in the spotlight, ( and the Hawks/Clakko/Fagan out) is by manufacturing faux outrage for the plight of a stinking rich ex-CEO.

That was a really strong draft year, no one wanted to give up high draft picks. So that might effect your argument. For what it’s worth I’m not fussed being low key during trade week. Sometimes it’s the best way for something really good to fall in your lap.
