RULES AND STUFF
WAIVERS AND FREE AGENTS
All requests should be sent by PM to @FF_Original_FAs up to 10pm the Wednesday before the first game of every round, clearly stating the requested player or players to drop and player or players to add. If a team chooses to use a waiver claim this should be clearly stated in the request.
It is the coaches responsibility to ensure that the player named is available. Please check the Player Market on thebench.
Any PM that has a time stamp of 10:01pm will be ignored and rendered invalid.
An example of the format is shown below:
Delistā¦
Player A
Player B
Waiverā¦
Player L NM
Player M Geel
Player N Syd
Free Agentā¦
Player M Geel
Player X Syd (only if Player M is not available)
Player Y Haw
Player Z Car
I will accept choices with conditions.
Just to quickly highlight some historical examples of how people have prioritised choices.
Out: Mitch Brown In: Billy Frampton or Sam Collins or Lachlan Murphy or Sam Switkowski
Out: Stephen Hill In: Lachlan Murphy, Sam Switkowski
Interpretation - Brown for any one of those players and Hill for either Murphy or Switkowski.
LTI: Hayden Young
In: 1 - Chris Burgess
2 - Easton Wood
3 - Conor Stone
4 - Liam Jones
Out David Cunningham
In: 1 - Conor Stone
2 - Patrick Naish
Interpretation: LTI for one of the 4, then Cunningham for Stone or Naish.
Out: Sam Simpson - In: Darcy Gardiner, Michael Hartley
Out - Jack Payne - In: Mitch McGovern, Sydney Stack
Out - LTI - In: Sydney Stack
Interpretation: Simpson for Gardiner or Hartley, Payne for McGovern or Stack, LTI for Stack
Please note, for the above (and some of the others), because they are specific choices, if Gardner and Hartley are gone, then you hang on to Sam Simpson. Then I slide down to the next option which will be Payne for McGovern for a given pick.
If you donāt want to go with specific players, I will also take the following for specific positions:
Outā¦
Joe Blow
Tim Dew
Jake Kay
Inā¦
Jack Trew FR
John Lester R
Mark Betts CB
Tobey Brand FB
Mitch McStay FC
Andy Smith R
Lewis Brown F
Beau Young B
Dictator Dan F
Oscar Cordy FB
Matty Cox FR
- I only want 1 forward, one ruck and one backman.
Firstly, if you are going to be specific with positions, please type the positions after the name. I donāt want to be going back and forth from UF to check each and every position of the players.
In this instance, itās Blow for Trew, then Dew for Betts, then Kay for Brand.
But if a few players get taken, it could end up being, Blow for Betts, then Dew for McStay and Kay for Matty Cox.
If you really want to be careful who you drop, Iād also take:
Outā¦
Joe Blow (for a F)
Tim Dew (for a R)
Jake Kay (for a B)
Inā¦
Jack Trew FR
John Lester R
Mark Betts CB
Tobey Brand FB
Mitch McStay FC
Andy Smith R
Lewis Brown F
Beau Young B
Dictator Dan F
Oscar Cordy FB
Matty Cox FR
- I only want 1 forward, one ruck and one backman.
This way, if all forwards are taken, you still get to keep the player you nominated first.
The other thing to be mindful of is that Waivers are processed separately and in isolation to each other. Waivers done first. Then Free Agents.
So your waiver pick cannot be dependant on picking up a specific player through free agency because it hasnāt happened yet. But youāre FA can be dependant on someone you have already picked up.
Example
Outā¦
Joe Blow (for a F)
Tim Dew (for a R)
Jake Kay (for a B)
Inā¦
Jack Trew FR (waiver)
John Lester R (waiver)
Mark Betts CB (waiver)
Tobey Brand FB
Mitch McStay FC
Andy Smith R
Lewis Brown F
Beau Young B
Dictator Dan F
Oscar Cordy FB
Matty Cox FR
- I only want 1 forward, one ruck and one backman.
In the above, if no one else claims the waivers, you get all three waivers because one is a forward, another is a ruck and another is a backman.
If a few waivers are taken by others, then you could end up with Betts and Smith, then keep Joe Blow because there is no other forward available.
Basically, Iād prefer lists than trying to describe what you want. More often than not, it makes more sense in a list than described.
Iāve also found that when itās in list form, you realise it doesnāt need to be so convoluted and might be able to simplify it down.
The results of the waiver and free agency requests will be processed and published to the league by midnight that night if not earlier, with any list changes on the Ultimate Footy website to be the responsibility of each coach.
I. Waivers
All players delisted from a team are immediately placed on waivers. Upon the occurrence of this event a player will remain on waivers until the next round of waivers have been processed. All teams, except for the team that delisted the player, are eligible to place a claim for the delisted player during this waiver period.
Teams who delist a player are unable to reclaim that player via waivers, they can only place a free agent claim for him in the hope that he clears waivers.
Where there are competing waiver wire claims for a delisted player, the team that is highest on the waiver list will gain the player.
Each time a delisted player is added to a teamās list, that team is moved to the end of the waiver list. This ārollingā list stays in effect for the entire season.
The determination of the waiver list at the opening of a new fantasy season is derived by reversing the final ladder from the preceding season.
If nobody claims a player during the waiver period, he becomes a free agent.
II. Free Agents
All players not listed by a side the previous week as well as all delisted players who clear waivers are deemed free agents. Free agents are available during the weekly free agency period and are processed in a similar way to waivers. These requests are processed in reverse ladder order at the end of the preceding week of games.
III. Errors - taking a player that is not eligible (on someone elseās list)
Given every choice is not thoroughly checked at the time of processing, there may be times when a player is named who isnāt on the free agent list but on someone elseās list. The pick will be will be forfeited. At the end of the draft, if you still have some āInsā on your list that havenāt been taken by anyone else, then that player is assigned as the replacement.
This occurred in Round 11 2021 when Neela accidentally chose Meek who was on Dunlopās list. After everyone had taken their pick, Neelaās ins were:
Lloyd Meek
Ned Reeves
Michael Owies
Tom Williamson
Jake Aarts
The Meek pick was forfeited. Reeves was already taken. Owies was already processed as Neelaās pick. Given he still had nominated Williamson and no one else took him, he was allowed to take that player in the place of Meek.

IV. Weekly Signing Deadline
For each round, players must be signed by the start of the first game of that round.
Teams that fail to do this will be automatically prevented by Ultimate Footy from naming that player for the round.
V. LTI Approvals & Replacements
All LTIs need to be approved by Dunlop. Please use the main thread to ask for an LTI, so that I see the intention.
In the event that you do not have formal approval at the time of submitting your FA requests, I will allow you to submit FAs whilst waiting for an approved LTI response. However, please state that you are awaiting an LTI approval and which player to delist if it doesnāt get up. If for whatever reason it doesnāt get approved, then Iāll adjust the selection in the post and notify everyone in the main thread.
VI. Pass vs No Pick
Itās just a terminology I use to identify the difference between providing pickups and running out of selections.
Pass means that you chose not to partake in FA pickups at all.
No pick means you did partake, but you ran out of players on your list to pick up.
