After Nankervis Tigers have very little in terms of quality rucks coming through, I highly doubt they pass up on CDT if he became available
Cal Twomey saying that Duff-Tyler wont get past West Coast or Richmond is very interesting.
This would open up nicely for us imo.
Which would give us an opportunity at 2 of Sharp, Robey or Taylor.
Sharp & Robey is best possible outcome in my opinion.
I’m probably more in the Robey and Taylor path
But one of those 3 wont be available… so I don’t think it will be our choice.
Thats fair, maybe the slim chance of CDT slipping through Rich would be if they saw him as more of a forward than number 1 ruck, with Sims as the fwd/ruck there already. But agree that Samson Ryan & Ollie Hayes-Brown are not an inspiring backup ruck division (although I think OHB is developing along okay)
I reckon we have a good chance.
Watching his games closely live as I have there are chinks in his armour. Namely his kicking and his proliferal vision when he has the ball … tends to get caught.
I’m not saying he won’t work on these flaws and become a fantastic player, I’m just saying some clubs (ie Richmond) may not like what they see right now.
It’s sounds like Robey is a lot more about “upside”.
He hasn’t come through the Coats league pathway. So he hasn’t had the coaching access which elite young players get.
He’s a high risk/high reward pick, compared to other players in that range….. whether Richmond are willing to take that risk is up to them.
If WCE take Duursma, CDT and Richmond take Robey, Taylor it only leaves Sharp out of those 3 players you mention. Are you assuming tigers take Grlj?
The idea doesn’t work so well with Taylor as it does with Grlj. The only reason they might trade down with Melbourne is the because they think they can get Grlj with the lower pick ie we won’t take him. But the same logic doesn’t apply to Taylor.
No Duff-Tyler. We don’t want another ruck.
Trade with Carlton for 9 and 11 (give up 6, 27 and 30).
Take Taylor, Cumming and Dovaston plus the academy guys.
= profit.
Based on my diet of highlights and noobs videos, I usually get pretty enamoured with a couple of players around our range but I haven’t really done so in this draft. I don’t know, I’m nervous. I think all the top picks have a lot of risks.
Thinking about it a bit, I’m unsure we’d do that trade.
First, I’m unsure Dovaston and Cumming would be available at 9 and 11. If Carlton traded up, they may go for needs and take Dovaston for example. And Dees likely take Cumming if available.
Second, we seemingly have the option to also trade those later picks to get 15 from GC. So we may rather pick 6 and 15 (say Cumming and Pickett) over picks 9 and 11 (Farrow and Phillipou).
Was so important to see Robey shine in all Talents league finals. Spent 12 weeks altogether in their program and finals would have been quite a lot of vision and detail. For him to get around 3 x BOG’s reduces for me the risks
These two are draft crazy! I do like what they do though. They’re going to do one mock draft a week up till the actual draft so I imagine they’ll be throwing the choices around! They’re had Hawks picking NHH at 13 (which is a bit of a reach for me) and a bid for Dean with Melbourne’s first pick.
Not to say he didn’t perform well. Clearly he did, otherwise he wouldn’t have pushed into the top 5 in the draft.
He clearly has a lot of upside because he hasn’t had access to work closely with development coaches the last few years…. Unlike the others at the top of the draft.
But that also comes with a risk attached to it also.
When is the trading of picks? Is it only on the draft night?
glasses has some weird takes, duursma and CDT make a lot of sense for eagles not duursma and sharpe.
Richmond could defs reach for a grjl they are very confident in their scouting, and take the coin flip in robey.
