Next season with Huss, Kako and Adam we’ll have the Bedouin Brigade running the show in attack.
No, more in the midfield from what I saw. Making his 4 goals even more impressive.
Noticeable that the Vic small forwards combined for 11 goals, although Lachie Dovaston, like Sweid, spent a fair bit of time up the ground. I’m hoping Dovaston might take some draft heat away from our boys, helping them to slide lower (thereby saving us draft points).
One thing I like about Sweid is thst he seems to be generally a high impact per possession player. Obviously this game is a stand-out for score involvements, but in other games I’ve seen he is purposeful and intelligent with his ball movement - kinda the opposite to the death by a thousand cuts-type midfielders.
I don’t know how he presents positionally as an AFL player, his height is a bit of a concern. But I’m hopeful he’s got the footy IQ to carve out a niche. Maybe a Gryan Miers- type creator.
Was good to see them go well today and good to see them finish the champs strong against some weaker opposition because against SA they both looked absolutely out of the depth. Hopefully they can keep improving and give us something to look forward to
The Allies fielded a pretty strong team. Nobody could match it with SA this year though
Who’s the Sam Lalor of this years draft?
An injury prone youngster?
Yep that will be our luck wouldnt it. We draft a player they become injuy prone ie; Zac Ried
Take your gloom to another thread
They will be killed by tall defenders in AFL with our long kicking to out numbered.
They are suited for a good ball movement side.
CHF: Sweid Caddy El-Hawli
FF: Hussein May Kako
Caddy and May will have be smoking a hookah pipe in a cafe out the front of Sydney Rd with the boys in no time
May and Caddy could rotate with 2 METER PITTA
I didnt mentioned it
I’m not sure if we want to take another small forward in this draft, but I’ve really been enjoying the way Dovaston and Huss have worked together through the Metro games. It started in the Young Guns trial match. Dovaston plays higher and Huss deeper, they look for each other and celebrate each others goals. They’re always walking together, chatting and scheming during breaks in play.
Another strong performance from Dovaston who’s become extremely consistent playing a position where that’s no easy task. The highlight of his performance was of course the four goals, end product from his ability to continually pop up in the right place at the right time. He got up the ground quite a bit to find the ball and was creative with it even though he didn’t always hit his target. As always with Lachy, his defensive pressure was very strong.
Looks good. What do you think is his range?
Not sure you can have too many good small and half forwards these days. So I would consider him
I think he’s played his way into a pick just outside the top 10. Might be lucky and have him slide into the later teens.
If you were a betting man you’d probably expect he wouldn’t make it past the Gaints first round pick. They take one or two small forwards every draft it seems.
I’m happy with stocking up with small forwards. It’s hard to find good ones, so the more we stock, the more likely we get a goodun!
I agree the more quality small forwards the better, as that’s where all the good teams are strong and dovaston reminds me a bit of milne from his highlights and interview i saw.
The only issue i see if we took him as well is, neither kako or el ackhar are great in the air, so you would end up with 3 small forwards that can’t compete when the ball comes in high. It’s something that was mentioned the other night about the lions, that all their smalls can bring the ball to ground and mark above their heads if they need to, which is important when playing a number of small forwards together.
