Me checking my prized “high potential” young draft picks

Mine didn’t fare much better.
I held onto Cooper Lord. Scored 70 then subbed just after half time.
I picked up Cottrell. He started well. Then tapered off.
Sonsie was a second round pick. Started as a sub. Did well to score 30 in a quarter though.

I think I’ve thrown away more first and second round picks than anyone else over the last five years.
Deven Robertson
Jeremy Sharp (who I delisted, then picked up again)
Patrick Naish (WTF)
Brayden Cook
Luke Pedlar
Finn Maginness (WTF)
Zane Trew (another WTF)
Angus Sheldrick (could still be a WTF)
Zac Taylor (WTF)
Ned Long (WTF)
Bailey Williams
Harry Cunningham
Ethan Phillips (WTF)
Dylan Williams (WTF)

Way more misses than hits.

Can’t complain about Campo’s debut. Just hope he’s not made a scapegoat.
Interesting to see Hutchinson named as ruck-rover, so I’ll be keen to see how that works out.
Hopefully Boxshall will debut, too.
Exciting times.

By the way, I was very nervous about selecting the #54 draft pick (eleven spots behind his brother!) with a first round.
Glad that so far I don’t look like a complete goose.
I did the same thing with Libba (#40) back in the day.

I had him all of last season and god he was frustrating! 20+ quater followed by 5 for the rest of the game, he has it all there just goes missing.

Looks like he’s going to be a very good FF option, can cover ground and get outside for the releasing possessions.

I may have been a bit hasty chopping Jack Ross from my keepers

97 from Thomson Dow is a pleasant surprise

Thanks

How do we purchase a subscription to unlock the padlock?

On the App…
No idea. Maybe another oversight.

On the webpage, go to my account, then fantasy coach subscription.
You can activate a 2 week free trial.

Not sure it’s worth it though.
Their projected averages and scores have been historically poor.

I wish there was an easier way to work out how many players left to score in the game.
But I’m currently holding a 320~ lead and Stoops has 4 extra players to come.

I’m expecting Milera to start on the ground, but if he is subbed, luckily I can swing Shoenmaker into the backline.

Unfortunately, Cleary looks like he’ll end up in the FA pool. Not sure I can carry him whilst waiting for his concussion to subside. Odds are he comes back through VFL. He was pretty poor before the head knock.

sigh
May being a late out hurts my chances for a win in both leagues…

Goddamnit…
Was so close to subbing Van Rooyen out for Owies…

Congrats @redbull .
Even if I’d have made that sub I’d still have lost by seven.
(Let’s not talk about playing Phillips over Sparrow, though).
Good close game.

Bad luck to the HotDons. Always tough when you’re short of selected players.

We opened with a win , which is great. Some obvious issues with the list. The midfield is fine , and we have some quality depth there too. Arguably, both Day and Daicos underperformed so there’s a window for improvement there. But the defence and forwards are pretty thin. Bolton and Pickett returning will help the forward end, and Coleman likewise at the other end, but even so both parts of the ground will probably keep us off the pace of the really good sides. We need a wildcard like Bergman to have a breakout year, that’d help no end. But is probably more unlikely than likely.

Glad to get the win.
Most of my players underperformed.
No way am I challenging @Stoops if he didn’t have his injury problems.

The good…

  • the backline. I like it. A few 80s and a 70. That’s without Luke Ryan who goes off once a month.
  • the forward line. It’s looking okay but it falls away after Moore and JHF. If they can bump up to 70s I’m okay. Probably need a few more off the bench.
  • Hopefully Cooper Lord gets a full game next week. 70 from 2 and a half quarters is great. It was a bit bewildering why he was the one subbed off.

The bad…

  • the midfield is a bit of a struggle. One 80+ and the rest are sub 70. That’s just not going to be good enough.
  • Jack Higgins and Oscar Allen. They are in struggling teams, so maybe my expectations should be lowered, but I was hoping for a bit more than mid 50s from them.

The ugly…

  • my ruck used to be a point of difference. Marshall has had an injury interrupted pre-season and it looks like he’s going to be eased into the season and probably even find himself injured from time to time. Unfortunately, by doing this, the Saints aren’t get full potential our of their rucks. This position could get real ugly.
  • Wayne Milera. Probably a bit harsh on him, but he shouldn’t be in my 18. Schoenmaker and Bice should score better, but may be patchy with over the next few months.

Thought we were in trouble all game. It’s a nice platform but we’ll be to build from it. Losing Lohmann on 4 was nearly disastrous

How do we put a player on IR?

There’s no IR. Any injured players remain part of your 30.
Looking at what’s in FA, lucky we’re not doing that. Only a handful of players at every position (excluding ruck).
