Its Saturday march 8.
That is voting date for federal election.
Itâs a great stadium to suit the Suns.
I would be surprised if they called an election over a long weekend. (unless the Albanese Government actually wants to get voted out). I thought that the election was likely to be in May 2025, so as to maximise the possibility of intertest rates falling before the election date.
Coming back to the thread, I like the idea of having Gold Coast on OR. There are plenty of other teams who would be a harsher test (eg Sydney, GWS, Brisbane) - it will give us a good indicator about what is ahead for the year. And I thought that BB complained last year that the teams that played on OR had a second bye for the season which gave them an unfair advantage? Maybe this will help us break the Bye hoodoo (or double it).
And then a tonne of 4pm Sunday arvo home games at Marvel
No.
Hope Iâm wrong
Four Thursday night games in the first 16 rounds.
I like that. Put us out of our misery early so we can enjoy a weekend of no disappointment.
I love being embarrassed in prime time
At least Hawthorn are also playing OR, so the annual Rd 1 fixture is going to be between two sides who have both played the week prior.
Yep. I tune out of AFL completely after we have lost in the round so a Thursday night loss means I wonât watch a second of any other games that round
One can only reason, with Essendon included in OR and the most Thursday night games (who knows how many more prime time games to come?) the league expect the club to be competitive and by extension win games.
I guess, the last 2 seasons have seen Essendon perform well early before sh_ting the bed. At a minimum, theyâd expect the Dons to be thereabouts until round 16?
That said, Essendonâs usual collapse has been great viewing for supporters of other clubs, so the league can bank on that too⌠canât lose really.
Itâs great that we can get the embarrassing loses out of the way early before the weekend starts next season.
Hopefully we get at least one extra MCG home game
Nobody knows what will happen. The Sooners will continue to be glass almost completely empty. Thats their choice. But one day they will surprise in a positive way. It could be 2025.
The prospects for 2025 are understandably low but that doesnât always hold. Look at Hawthirn. A year ago they were seen as bottom 6 in 2024 and ended up surprising almost everyone. Very few, I mean very few around here saw the Hawks evolving like it did.
None of us know. Maybe the AFLs faith in Essendonâs huge support will be vindicated.
You said this halfway through this season that they will regret not getting memberships and missing out on finals tickets
Except we get the shorter break after most likely playing on a hot & Humid QLD afternoon
I hate Thursday night games in melbourne.
Hope theyre all interstate.
Yes, and I was wrong. But I might be right next year. Just because I was wrong last year doesnât mean I will be wrong forever.
Youâre the President of the negative brigade, and itâs understandably a big cohort. But one day you and many others will be surprisingly wrong.
The club is addressing the fundamental drivers of its decades of failure. It will turn sooner or later. Thereâs every reason to believe next year could be a better year than 2024. Thatâs all Iâm saying.
