Its pretty clear that Shiel is depth at this point, with 1 foot out the door.

Mate, AFL and VFL are very different games. VFL tends to be more open because the players can’t maintain the running that AFL level players can. Also, Caldwell is an inside mid, where as Shiel operates on the outside of the contest. The hate for Shiel here is pathetic. He is a footballer trying his best for the team, like every other footballer.

I would say the exact opposite. The vfl is far less open because the skill level and fitness is no where near as good
Its a much scrappier game.
And I dont hate him at all, just call a spade a spade.
Suggesting he cant tackle because he gets the ball too much is ridiculous.
He doesnt tackle because he has no interest, and never has, in playing defensive football.

I got nothing against shiel but it’s clear he’s not part of the long-term future and will most likely not be with us after this year anyway.
Hopefully we just prioritise more of the younger players we have.
Scrappier yes, but as I said, they don’t have the elite running that the AFL does which means the mass of numbers aren’t getting to the ball like they do in the ones. That means that the game is more open in general because you rarely have 20 players on a postage stamp like the AFL does.

There were 2 critical centre bounces and we had Shiel, Parish and Hately?.. you would think they will win those or at least give it a crack. Both Brisbane clearances quite easily and goals.
Do not bring them in.
