ive seen enough
Patterson is another talented prospect in what looks to be another strong crop from SA. A small forward who can do a bit of everything and kicked bags of goals as a bottom ager. A quick first step and change of direction helps him slip tacklers or get out on the lead. He’s dangerous at ground level and capable of leaping for marks.
Think his old man finished about 2 or 3 games short of Gabriel being F/S eligible for Collingwood.
Makes him even more likeable
96 games
I said it first in the Sheezel draft, then I said it in the Wizard Watson draft, then again in the Dovaston draft….we need high quality SMALL FORWARDS.
Very promising that seems to be a few top notch smalls next draft. Hopefully can get one before NGA bids, whilst also collecting 2027 points for Bewick.
I knew it was close.
I still see Stephen at some Norwood functions, he’s a current MP in SA
Hope so. Butler added to Justice would make for an exciting pair of smart, small forward bookends.
I think our needs are a good small forward, an elite tall forward if none of the crop from last year don’t make improvements. Then after that I think outside mids with good ball use would be good (which Bewick might end up being anyway no?). I think bringing in Kondo and Farrow makes our back line look a lot more balanced and skillful (adding in Reid as well)
Justice is a big bodied mid
Agreed. I don’t think he’s been all that impressive as a forward. His attributes seem much more suited to midfield.
If he can tidy up his disposal a bit and add some muscle to his frame he could push up into first round contention.
Thanks for the correction.
Disgraceful by the SANFL to allow Cochrane to transfer to Port to play for their reserves next year and Centrals get absolutely zero in return
Everyone bending over for Cochrane and Port, hope he gets bid on at the 1, but I get the feeling Port will wrap him in cotton wool to reign the cost in a bit
We’re well past that stage. Dougie’s been the best player in his age group for the last two years.
If they somehow convinced him to sit out the entire season, at the absolute most he might slide into 2nd pick behind Cody Walker.
Honestly, they’d be better off leaving it alone and hoping that he has a horrible run of form at the champs or something, that’s the only thing that would significantly affect his draft stock. Or a bad injury I guess.
I’m hoping we didn’t go small forward dovaston this year because there are a few next year. Makes more sense if that was the plan.
At this early stage Gabriel Patterson is probably the main core small forward, but there are heaps of other hybrid small forwardish types.
Arki played a lot of small forward and kicked a lot of goals, but I’m expecting him to play a more midfield next year.
Neocleous will probably be more of a mid, but well under 180cm and has played a lot of high half forward.
Cody Templeton played a lot of forward this year and kicked goals, but his skill set might suit midfield more and I think he’s been more of a mid in previous years. Super honest, brave and hard working in the forward line - more of a tough pressure forward who also can do a few magical things at times and can take a nice mark.
Teixiera another who might be in the first round mix. Creative and hard working high half forward.
I’m probably forgetting someone obvious.
Opinion based purely on one video, but Kenh appears to have good spatial awareness and good positioning when to move up the field.
I agree that he is locked in as a top 5 pick (unless he intentionally tanks) but there is a pretty big difference between pick 1 and 5 in terms of matching points and there are subtle ways that they can attempt to reduce the chances of him being bid on at 1.
Suns would have found things tougher if they had have had Uwland bid on at pick 1.
I mainly hope port have to pay a higher premium on a kid they should not have had access to and have done virtually nothing to develop.
He seems to have the skills needed to play forward, but his height is gonna have a lot of clubs putting a line through him as a midfielder.
He’d probably be better doing what Hussein did by playing and developing his small forward skillset, if he proves that he is an elite forward then a club will take a punt in the current forward focused climate.
