It’s crucial that we try to get the best possible talent available in the MSD too
So we need a major season ending injury? Pretty sure we can manage that
I do think HVH and Herbert are the better rucks of the mix. Have you seen much of Xavier Ladbrook? Is he more of a key back type.
Yes he was solid in the first two games and not far away from me getting something up on the channel for him.
Well, that sucks.
Although, it does make the prospect of Carlton & Port getting their hands on sufficiently high picks to match more difficult. If they need top 10 picks, and the top 10 is seen as a LOT better than the 11-20 picks, they could be screwed.
I think he can be a needle mover
He’s doing some incredible things for a 30 gamer
Moving picks into 2027 should be a very real possibility;
-Justice now is a late second round option so the necessity for picks to match isnt there
- the kids club tied in 2027 are much higher fancied (Koby, Darwish, dont think we’ll bother with Tevita tbh)
- the Tasmania experiment is surely coming into our thinking with strengthening our draft hand.
- we have a few guys who could still earn some decent draft capital (Merret, Ridley, Langford, Parish, Redman) if we wanted to go full blow the joint up.
Need to somehow convince Tassie that these guys can contribute and get them to pay over the odds
This fella is the one I would love access to. Has real C u next Tuesday to him and plays with great flair.
He’s been a real difference maker the couple of times I’ve seen him live and he enjoys a bit of confrontation.
Lots of Ballantyne or Weightman to him, I can see lots of headaches in our future
If Parish continues his return to form he could net us something worth while. And we have some promising youth coming through in that position.
Redman would be the easiest to recover from losing, Farrow looks comfortable (early days I know), Kondo has tools to work with, and Roberts looks better at HB to me.
Problem with that is, if history is our guide then a return to form from Parish is far more likely to lead to us extending his contract for another 6 years, not shopping him around for draft capital.
If there’s a mid with elite disposal at our first rounder this year I think we should take it. And id probably be picking some talent late too unless the draft is really weak.
And you would of course though look to load up to ensure we get Bewick next year?. Tassie will be pre-listing and drafting the best talent otherwise.
With them having so many draft picks and probably as a new side the most resources being plowed into identifying talent it’s a bloody fortunate time to have a father son/academy kid.
I can imagine it being very hard to go to the open draft in 2027/2028 and maybe 2029.
I wouldnt be banking on this at all. He’s still going to play in the second half of the season and there will be plenty of time for him to impress.
Or another calf injury.
This so much.
If Parish plays the rest of this season out in similar fashion to his second half yesterday then there is absolutely more chance he gets an extension than being traded out
Having watched a fair bit of last year, the calls for Blake to be considered a first round prospect were premature. Club tied inflated his ranking imho.
That’s just me, the injury is putting him behind the pack so coming from a fair way back now.
dont get me wrong, his skill set lends himself to being a top prospect but the runs on the board dont suggest it is all im saying
We’ll disagree on that. I think his performances for Calder as a bottom ager, especially once he started to hit his stride with a move into the midfield, we’re strong enough in comparison with his peer group.
Outside of the top group of elite prospects (and in some cases even including those) the pool has started slowly this year, there’s plenty of scope for a prospect like Justice to elevate himself into late first round contention.
I’m not someone who over hypes our club tied prospects. I was consistent on Huss and Sweid not being top 20 last year even during Cal’s early season hype drive. I’m also not saying Justice is at that level right now as it stands, especially given his injury. But I wouldn’t count it out once he gets back on the field.
More Isaac Kako types pls.
Just so dangerous with his speed and skill
youre one of the good ones whom im not lugging into the “majority” here mate, you and @Tommy_Wolfe are arguarbly two of the more pragmatic draft watchers who put out content.
Dont get me wrong, Blake has the skill set to elevate himself into first round calculations, just dont think he is there right now, nor with the runs on the board he put up. His U17s game showed that
This AFL Academy game is a tough watch, some players very lucky to be selected for this team
