You don’t have much flexibility with it though. It gets given out at the end of night one, so you can’t use it to trade for a player or move up the draft order.
Out of curiosity, where would Keenan Boi be sitting on the radar? Small forward with some good recent form. Hawks NGA product. Is he showing more than someone like Marcus Prasad at the moment?
I’d be fine with us drafting Williams. Our future midfield isn’t especially stacked. Parish and Merrett are on the way out. Braddles seems intent on pushing Tsatas out of the team. Durham and Robey are likely to be more part time mids playing a lot in the forward line, Kako even more part time mid leaning much more forward. Farrow is a possible rather than probable future mid.
So that leaves us with Sharp and Caldwell as full timers, and a couple of more part time impact players in the rotation
Have said the last 6 months he’ll likely go outside 30, would need a seriously good back end of the year to shoot up the draft boards like Robey did last year.
We know what we have so im not disappointed he’s missing footy, think he could be a very good AFL player with his traits and athletic profile
think my number 1 target would be Van Hattum and then Butler. Williams would simply be best available and a bankable AFL player, Ala Dyson Sharp last year. Not disappointed with that at all
these second round picks we’re likely going to end up will be fascinating what we do with.
I wonder if we shift some into 2027 if we do end up with our own + this magical compo pick + anything we end up with from trades (looks at Zac Merrett)
