If we lose Bewick to the Devils we riot, they get access to 25 players that are linked to academys or father sons and can sign them early. The player can refuse and go to the open draft, hopefully Essendon has done a good body of to convince him to come to us.
Looks like I guessed right with 12.
So, what would the 2025 draft would have looked like if Tassie came in for this year instead? Assuming Tassie will take seven 17yr olds in year 1, and using the article at the bottom to pick them, Tassie would have pre-selected:
- Sharp, Rodriguez, Duursma, CDT, Onley, NHH and Walley.
- Avery Thomas as a Tasmanian linked player
If you’re aiming for first round talent then plenty of misses, but still got the top 2. I’m now just going to slot the Tassie picks into the 2025 order, ignoring their impacts on trades or points matching.

ROUND 2
first pick Tassie
…
So, that gives you a feel for the kind of impact they might have if 2026 was their first year playing. The academy picks would play out differently, but I’ve also ignored that teams will have compo picks for the senior players Tassie lures.
Think you will find that tassie has to trade 3 or 4 of their first round picks.
Sure, but that doesn’t change that those picks are still added to the first round.
Jack Martin wasn’t it?
Why did 2 of those play for GCS… were they not forced to trade those picks?
Yep, he’s the one I was forgetting.
Gold Coast didn’t actually have a mini-draft as part of its entry, only GWS. So GC traded picks to GWS in both 2011 and 2012 to get the selections they used on O’meara and Martin.
Imagine a one win team in west coast coming into the draft at pick 6 lol
Noah Williams is an undersized wing and midfielder with some exciting traits who could be ready to break out with a big top age season. He wasn’t often prolific at finding the ball in his bottom age season but has the pace and disposal skills to do maximum damage with ball in hand and loves to lay a tackle. In this game he showed an ability to sense the moment, lifting in the final term with the game on the line and kicking a couple of goals in a late Falcons surge that ultimately just fell short.
Would make a nice run and gun option off the HB
Heath Mellody played an important role in helping Claremont secure victory in last year’s Colts grand final. The Bulldogs struggle to handle his potent rebounding run off the half back line, one particular highlight being a running goal in the first quarter that helped Claremont get up and about. His athleticism allowed him to impact defensively in the air and at ground level.
Considered by many to be one of the top prospects from the 2026 WA crop it’ll be interesting to see if Mellody gets a move into the midfield this season and how that effects his game.
I want ARKI!!!
(BTW, who does he kick like?? His action reminds me so much of someone)
Looks like Dangerfield’s action with a slightly more over-exaggerated punch on the ball.
I like how he just darts it.
