Yeah exactly. I guess I would like us to be in a better spot to take on a ‘unicorn’ or feel comfortable going for HVH, but that is more of a frustration with the club in general and more suited to vent at my future counselling sessions.
Yep and arguably HVH has close too if not almost matches Jackson for mobility, touch, skill ball in hand at the same time if you go back an review draft highlights.
Ie these guys are 2 metre mids.
well I mean sure, if you look at the lists on paper and how Richmond has basically no one except Sims (not really) to take over the mantle from Nank, and then how we technically have 2 rucks and 2 ruck/fwds on the list, then you could say we don’t need HVH as much
if you don’t actually rate our list, different story
I was pointing out that using additional picks to move up has consequences. Sometimes those are worth it, sometimes not.
On a needs basis of the open pool players Butler probably matches our needs best. Plenty in this thread have been keen on him since before the season started.
Sure, I never suggested there weren’t people keen on him since before the season started.
Does your comment in any way counter what I said?
I said specifically that after Arki’s instagram post about Hird we’d had a lot of people coming in here posting about how he was the one we should draft.
I don’t think this was said by anyone, ever.
I think a lot of people thought Cox might be our new Kepler Bradley.
I’d have said Jim Stynes set the new benchmark.
I just don’t think the interest in Butler has significantly changed. I think it’s been there all along.
Gresham- gone, fark off
jones- gone, collect $200 tho
Merrett- his spirit has already left but his body can fark off too.. laters
Ridley- sadly gone- he has checked out
Parish- arrghhh why is he still even here, ta ta
Perkinator- gone, fraud, take your fedora and go
Tsatas- just best for everyone if you quietly exit stage left, we are all quietly tsatistically overloaded.
Guelfi- he is sooo gone that I already have forgotten him

utilities nik cox, Clarke
depth- el hawli , blakiston, unwin, mcmahon
5 more minutes in the oven- geeryn , Bourke, and VV.
big problem…. too many midfielders so we are playing people out of position and no cohesion, if Merrett and parish go that helps big time.
Need one good ruck, not 3 50/50 rucks
Each week play Angus Clarke (Nic cox if Clarke injured) as they are utilitarian and help rotations/ gameplay change.
give the keys to the kids, if seniors are unhappy fark off, they have had their chance, if they eat humble pie and help the kids it would prolong their career
our last defensive line is the weakest, needs mature defenders
(and a ready made small fwd)
Mason Cox you mean?
90s ruck rules - unlimited run up - helped the shorter, higher leaping rucks.
Jeff White only 195cm ish, just about the best ruck of the decade. similar height & athleticism to Barnes.
Centre circle came in in 2004/05, made it very hard for the sub 2M rucks.
If the Bulldogs use up all their draft capital on Butters,
El Souki would be a great option around the Merrett pick.
Butler
El Souki
Neocleous
Patterson
Elliot
Templeton
Are there any other forward half smalls that I’m missing that are looking like potential 1st round quality?
HVH is a no brainer at this stage. There are plenty of small forwards available in this draft later on.
This “unicorn” has a position, unlike our last one.
Noobs is right.
They both are.
Butler is right up the pointy end of most draft rankings at the moment.
And there was a huge uptick in interest in him when all the Essendon Hirdy stuff came out.
Outside options in Marcus Prasad, George Dimer and Keenan Boi probably in later stages of the draft.
I brought up earlier that we could leave the draft with either a combination of Arki Butler and Ethan Herbert OR HVH with Gabriel Patterson if we traded up in the draft order. That being said, I’ve like what I have seen from El Souki and Neocleous.
