I disagree. Fundamentally, the offer to shift the Cochrane bid from #1 to #3 saves them about 700 points. That’s valuable regardless. Secondly, they need 2027 points to match Pilot and Salopek. I assume if they take #5 as compo they may trade it back for 2027 points and a teens pick, trade #4 with us for a teens pick and later pick, match with the two teens pick and keep the later pick and 2027 points. They would be in a better position than if we bid at #1.
I’ve said a number of times we should trade for #4, then trade back. We could get a pick to use on Harris/Bradley, and 2027 points for Darwish and Bewick. Utilise the unique situation with Port to get a bargain, then trade back for full value. Or do a similar deal with Carlton.
Trading #1 back loses the priority pick, unless the AFL change the rules. It makes it very unlikely any trade using #1, #2, #3 or #5 (ore-compo, North’s) occurs.
See above. Although even in your scenario I think they’d prefer #16 and #19. But they’ll get more value trading back.

Have you noticed the dearth of KPDs running around? McKay, Battle, Zerk, Aleer-Aleer, the Geelong guy Port took, Barass, clubs are chasing them left right and centre. North, Bulldogs and others still need them.
I also suspect Wright will play deep into his thirties. Been pretty injury free, and a lot of those non-agile big rucks/forwards do so (Tex, Goldstein, M Cox, Gawn, etc).

Remember the last bloke we had who could do that? Our brains trust de-development coaches told him to concentrate on just one foot.
Maybe our recruiters should think “What would Hawthorn do?”. They seem to prioritorise elite kicking skills. Maybe we should change old habits and do that too.

After last night I am back on the Butler train. Your mids can get the ball into the forward line, but you need elite small forwards to finish it off.

We really do lack any game winners. Player that can turn a game in 10 minutes, or in a few big moments.
We also do lack a mid that can break from a contest with elite disposal.

I reckon people overrate WAFL form. I mean, please correct me if I’m wrong, but Mellody is playing very well against men in the WAFL.
Elijah Tsatas was rated pick 5 when we drafted him, and currently dominates VFL just the same, but somehow nobody could see that he couldn’t kick, and can’t chase, or run out an AFL game for some reason.
Surely you just pick the class of Butler.

I think hussy will be a guy that can turn a game and obviously caddy can do it. Huss needs a big preseason to get fitter. When he gets the ball good things usually happen. I’m on the butler train.

There’s a difference between a seasoned pro conditioned for multiple years in a professional environment dominating a state league comp, and an 18 year old who’s still at school doing the same thing.
