Being at the Impy for a Colombia game is, for reasons I won’t get into, a memory I’ll treasure for the rest of my life
Final: Spain vs Brazil
Winner: Spain (if they adjust to conditions well)
Golden Boot: Mbappe (France to exit in the Semi Final)
Big Call: Australia again surprise many, like 2022
Big name that doesnt get out of the group: Portugal
Who of Congo, Uzbekistan and Columbia take enough points of them?
Whoops wrong way around
They likely beat Uzbekistan but the other two will test them (hopefully).
Didn’t want you getting up early on the wrong day and rocking up to an empty square! ![]()
Oh no, that SF was glorious!
this image will be burned into my mind forever .
Pretty sure I have the full game on the DVR player still
It was genuinely the most bizzare thing ive seen in sport 4 goals in about 6 mins.
The Germans even talked at HT and agreed to take the foot off to not embarrass Brazil even further. Could’ve genuinely won that game 10-0
That was the year of YA-MEZ!!!
I asked ChatGPT to name a Yugoslav and Soviet squad.
The Yugoslav one could genuinely win it
"If the former countries Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union still existed today, their football squads would be incredibly strong. Here’s a hypothetical 2026-era World Cup squad based on players from their successor states.
Yugoslavia XI (Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia)
Starting XI (4-3-3)
- GK: Jan Oblak
- RB: Josip Stanišić
- CB: Joško Gvardiol
- CB: Strahinja Pavlović
- LB: Ivan Perišić
- CM: Luka Modrić
- CM: Sergej Milinković-Savić
- CM: Lovro Majer
- RW: Dušan Vlahović
- ST: Aleksandar Mitrović
- LW: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
(Not Yugoslav, so excluded)
Correct LW:
- LW: Andrej Kramarić
Bench highlights
- Benjamin Šeško
- Edin Džeko
- Dušan Tadić
- Nikola Milenković
Soviet Union XI (Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Baltic states, etc.)
Starting XI (4-3-3)
- GK: Giorgi Mamardashvili
- RB: Oleksandr Tymchyk
- CB: Illia Zabarnyi
- CB: Giorgi Kochorashvili
- LB: Vitaliy Mykolenko
- CM: Oleksandr Zinchenko
- CM: Arsen Zakharyan
- CM: Valeriy Bondar
- RW: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
- ST: Artem Dovbyk
- LW: Mykhailo Mudryk
Bench highlights
- Aleksandr Golovin
- Georgiy Sudakov
- Sardar Azmoun
(Not Soviet)
A Soviet-era side built from today’s talent would probably be centred around Ukraine and Georgia, while a Yugoslav side would have an elite defence and midfield built around Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.
Of the two, I’d rate the hypothetical Yugoslavia squad slightly higher because of the combination of Oblak, Gvardiol, Modrić, Milinković-Savić, Vlahović and Šeško. They’d be a genuine World Cup contender.
"
Useless they are think this is the second world cup they missed
3rd ![]()
3rd straight
Ahh geez
Beaten by Bosnia on pens in a playoff.
Get this man back

what a ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ side we had back then at euro 2016. Absolutely disgusting
I thought the Italy team was rebuilding
