Think he went for scans on knee
Had a bandage on his knew during game Durrsma
Looks like he’s going to become a very dependable best 22 at some point. May not be a star, but will be player who makes the team better for being in it.
Roberts looked good up forward today kicking 2 goals. Goal kicking wingmen moving forward shows good prospects.
What do people think of playing Roberts up forward in a “small forward” role? He is the same size as Charlie Cameron (183).
Assuming you mean to build him forward in the VFL first, I could definitely see that working.
Tbh from what I’ve seen so far, he seems to have the attributes to make it work anywhere from HBF/wing/HF/etc.
I continue to be bewildered as to how he dropped so far.
Yeah he is very good. He will get his shot if he continues in this vein of form.
Anyone we have that even remotely has the right skillset should be given a go there. It’s a glaring weakness.
So yep, I’m all for it.
Wasn’t the knock on him his size and speed? I think what I love the most is he never seems to take a backward step. Looks a competitive beast.
Won’t pretend to be an expert, but all the draft profiles I saw listed speed as a strength (as well as endurance).
Also at 184cm he’s not small.
Same height as Charlie Cameron.
4cm taller.
I went by this:
Checking Footywire, that listing is clearly wrong. Yes he is only 180. My mistake by not checking further.
I would rather martin move into the forward/wing rotation and have a look at roberts at half back. Its probably a easier introduction to senior footy, he’ll get some easier touches
When I saw he was a private school, footy captain, Matty Lloyd endorsed operator I just assumed he would be a skilful, but a little bit soft, outside type (my prejudices coming into play clearly).
But he is tough as nails. Loves the contest.
Sounds like the bloke in our team currently wearing number 22, he also appears flexible with where he plays and is going reasonably okay right now.
Finally Voss got a game .Oh it was for Freo
Personally reckon he could eventually play in the middle. He has a great footy brain, and his skills, speed, endurance and aggression are a real asset. Was impressed with his hands, recall a handball at sprint speed very close to the wing boundary on Victoria Park to evade 2 Pies defenders and transition the ball up the ground - It came off and it was magic. would love him to start off at half back or pocket and just be given the chance to fly. Probably my favourite recruit from last year, feels senior ready - probably a natural replacement for Hind, who he bests for height and endurance. I hope he breaks into the team before mid year.
Without reference to Archie specifically, Haileybury offers scholarships for sports excellence. So do most private schools, so its not unusual for some relatively underpriveleged kids to emerge from that system.
Archie isn’t from an underprivileged background.
What’s the big problem recruiting from Private schools?
I don’t see much difference, except that they get a lot more coaching at the school as these schools have elite training programs that add to the player
