Meant Dan.
Mr. Consistency.
He’s been missing targets and turning them over since he debuted
He’s grubbing kicks to players who are 20m clear in space
Funnily enough I spoke to someone who mentioned Archie is one of the nicest kids / blokes you could meet off field, we laughed for a while about how he has a bit of white line fever and constantly wants to get into scuffles
give it a little more time.
What do people think he can end up like? He’s 183cm… my thoughts are- can he become a Luke Hodge (185cm) or Sam Mitchell (180cm)? They were both tough players who didn’t take a backwards step and led their sides accordingly.
I see him as a bit of a Mark Johnson type. I don’t think his ceiling is Luke Hodge level high, but would love to be wrong.
Tough as nails, ocassionally does mind bogglingly dumb things and makes horrific skill errors, but you get someone who fights to the death.
That is quite a high bar.
I liken him to develop into a Bomber Thompson type player. Where he’s good defensively and just as good offensively. Obviously the body shape is different, but so is the game.
If I had to find a current player like him, I’d say there is a bit of Karl Amon or Jarman Impey in him. Maybe Rory Laird. It’s tough because he needs to get in the gym and build his body up and see what that does to his game.
I don’t see him having as much influence in the midfield as Mitchell. And I don’t think he’ll be as good as Hodge as far as forcing the opposition to work around. It’s tough to compare him to Hodge or Mitchell because they were both in great teams that allowed them to be them. Stick one of them in our team, at they’d either be Merrett or Caldwell/Durham like. Simply because the players around them don’t really support them.
Actually, the other one that springs to mind is early career Andrew Welsh. Although, I suspect Archie surpasses him as a footballer come careers end.
Probably like Andy McGrath after a few more seasons.
Never gets a mention in the Rising Star contention. Bizarre

Rightfully so imo. He’s had a decent season but he shouldn’t be in rising star contention, especially against those 3.
I would disagree. Particularly looking at the season stats (though admittedly not in super great detail!
I would think it’s crazy if Roberts isn’t in the conversation. He’s playing pretty well in a shithouse team as well, which isn’t easy to do as a young bloke.
not as many highlight packages as those 3, but definitely more consistent every week
Roberts is a solid player and gets his consistent disposal numbers and he’s proven he’ll be a dependable footballer but he’s not shown that class, star power and game winning traits as say Reid or Curtin.
I thought Luke Hodge like as well.
Broadly speaking he’s playing a stat-happy role in a terrible team, which doesn’t correlate to him necessarily being outstanding amongst his peers in general play.
Narrowly speaking, that’s a load of crap.
